Restore iPad2 1Password database to iPhone4
in iOS
I've been using 1Password Pro (1PWP) on my iPad2. I got a new iPhone4 and wanted to transfer/sync my 1PWP data from my iPad to my iPhone. I made a database backup from my iPad, saved it to Dropbox, then went and ran the db restore service from my iPhone. Went to a browser on another computer to access the backup from dropbox and clicked restore. My iphone is asking for an unlock code that no longer matches what it was before I ran the restore. I've tried this twice and same results.
As an alternative, I tried the "sync" option but 1Password for Windows does not seem to operate like 1PW for Mac as doesn't appear to be able to read the .1ptbackup file from 1PWP on iPad. iPad does not seem to output an agile key string that Windows version wants.
Appreciate any guidance,
- Ken

Hey there, Ken! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
The Master Password has to be set to a 4 digit number on the iPad which you then back up, and then it can be entered to unlock the data on the iPhone. Additionally, you will need to kill and restart the app afterward (switch to home screen, double tap Home, hold the 1Password icon til it jiggles, and tap the red (-) to close it).
This is obviously not very secure (having only a 4 digit number protecting your data), which is why we offer Dropbox sync, so that you can have a strong Master Password on each and it doesn't even have to match. This will also allow you to sync the data with the PC.
The .1ptbackups are encrypted SQL databases, I believe. This is the format used on iOS, since it doesn't have a filesystem per se that is exposed to the app. AgileKeychain format simply can't exist there, which is why the backup formats differ as well.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, just ask. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
