Missing toolbar icon in Firefox due to corrupt Firefox profile [Solution: Create new Firefox profile
I have the same problem with 1Password Version 3.6.5 (build 31075), Mac OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 5.0.1.
I have followed all the advice in the 1Password Help file, going to 1Password Preferences, disabling the extension, verifying the extension is off, restarting Firefox, etc — nothing. I believe the problem started after I upgraded 1Password. I also reset folder permissions, whatever that means.
I ran Diagnostics, but of course the result is unintelligible to me, except for the fact that it seems I have an invalid "short name," which requires that I put on some scuba gear and dive into the Root User.
Help! I need my 1Password!

Welcome to the forums, Lebron! I'm sorry that you are having this problem.
I split your post from the thread about Safari since our Firefox extension is bit different.
Could you please try the new Beta release (3.7.1.BETA-2) and see if it fixes this problem? You can do this by going to the 1Password > Preferences window, selecting the Update panel, enable the "Include Beta versions" checkbox, and then click Check Now. Once the update is installed, try again and see if it helps.
Can you verify for me that Firefox is checked in 1Password's preferences? Can you post a screen shot of Firefox's extension window (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

For a few technical reasons, 1Password installs two extensions in Firefox: one for Firefox 4, and one for Firefox 5. But if you disabled Firefox’s Compatibility Mode feature you will run into issues, most notably that Firefox will load both but neither will work.
To reenable Compatibility Mode, please follow these steps:

Visit the URL “about:config”

Search for extensions.checkCompatibility

Ensure the value is true

Restart Firefox
Once compatibility mode is enabled, restarting Firefox should allow 1Password to appear in the toolbar.
To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? You can attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

I tried this. Didn't work.

I've attached the screenshot you requested.

Did this. The value was already true.

I've mailed you the Diagnostics Report to the above address with a link to this thread.
I've unistalled and re-installed everything in every sequence. Nothing helps so far. I have to copy-paste my logins and I have to create new logins manually, because it won't auto-save logins, either.

Thanks for sending in your Diagnostics Report, Roberto. It appears that everything is loading correctly, but the report is from over a week ago. Could you please generate a new Diagnostics Report and reply to the email I sent you?
Also, your screenshot above would seem to indicate that you are running 1Password 3.7.2 but the report indicates you are running 3.6.5. The report is older, so I am presuming you have updated 1Password. The new report will let me know the current state of things a bit more clearly.
I wonder if your current profile is somehow corrupt. One thing you could try is creating a new Firefox profile:

Please let me know how it goes. I look forward to your updated Diagnostics Report.

Success!
I created a new Firefox profile, as you suggested, and this solved the problem!
Thank you!
Transferring my bookmarks to the new profile was not as difficult as I had feared. The instructions in the Firefox web site are easy to follow, once you find them. I also had to re-install my add-ons individually, but it's done now, and I can once again enjoy the benefits of 1Password!
Thanks again for your help!Flag 0 -
Thanks for the update, Lebron. I'm glad things are working well! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
