1Password Version 3.7.0 (build 31083) Safari Extension BROKEN?

<div class="IPBDescription">Safari Extension changed without me being asked to update.</div>Within the last hour or so the Safari Extension for 1Password changed from a horizontal format, the one with too many chunky graphics for my taste, to a vertical version which left me guessing how to access All Log Ins.

Remember I was at that time running 1Password 3.6#? with the latest Beta Extension [well I had been until divine intervention?], which I was just getting used to using instead of AllBookmarks.

Please keep going AB old friend.

However when the correct button was clicked I was able to search but hitting the selected Log In button failed repeatedly to enter my Username and Password on the sites Log In page.

I am wondering if I have been hacked.

How did the Extension update take place without my knowledge?

Faced with the failure of the Extension I opened 1Password from the Dock and was requested to download the above version of 1Password, which was duly completed.

Hitting the selected Log In within the main Log Ins page/s instant access was gained to the desired site.

Selecting from AllBookmarks and then hitting the 1Password Safari Extension button is also functional.

Proving that AllBookmarks is still a going concern!

Don’t get me wrong guys, I would not like to be without the facilities that you provide.

Locking into a system like this is as you well know a pretty serious situation, more haste less speed springs to mind?

EDIT:

Given a short time to regain composure, and have a coffee [again], retracing the steps of using the extension the problem regarding the Extensions inability to to insert the Username and Password has now disappeared. This was probably due to the manner of ‘installation’ or in this case more like ‘happening’?

Thanks for the update. It sounds like things are working well. If you are still having any trouble, please try updating to the latest beta version of the main application. You can do this by going to the 1Password > Preferences window, selecting the Update panel, enable the "Include Beta versions" checkbox, and then click Check Now. Once the update is installed, try again and see if it helps.

We made some great improvements to autosubmit (and filling as well).

For quick access to the "All Logins" section you can either click the 1P toolbar button and then click the second icon on from the top on the left side of the extension popover or just press Option-Command-\ on your keyboard to open the extension right to the "All Logins" section.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the info khad.

I have installed the latest Beta Version and did not experience any of the previously mentioned issues.

The work done really shows, I’ll soon stop crying over AllBookmarks at this rate.

I decided to give Chrome an airing on my Mac, on trawling through the info there seemed to be a host of Keyboard Shortcuts available.

Unfortunately Chrome seems to have an issue with Importing my Bookmarks, which might be due to the nesting of Folders, so for now it is a no no.

The shortcut to All Log Ins is worth it’s weight in Gold, this has made me keen to see what else I have been missing.

Cheers for now, keep up the great work,

    Stan

    ]Hi Stan,

On behalf of Khad, you’re welcome. I’m glad it’s working better now. We’ll continue to bring in more improvements as we work around the clock on the new extension. We do plan to bring all the improvements over to the Chrome extension as well in the near future.

I’m not sure what’s wrong with the bookmarks, maybe check out Google’s support area to see if others have similar issue?

Enjoy the new extension and if we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

    Hi Mike

    Kudos to the Team

You do certainly ‘work around the clock’ at Agile as we now have Version 3.7.1 (build 31089)

With all the changes that have happened recently please be kind enough to confirm what should happen with regard to the Safari Extension in the following scenario:

    Start up Mac from cold

    Run 1Password

    Enter Master Password

Now that AllBookmarks is ‘sitting on the sidelines’ [in my case] Safari has to be run manually rather than making a Selection within AllBookmarks

    With Safari running

    Select 1Password Extension

This Extension did not, require entry of the Master Password [the MP having been entered in 1Password Application]

On first experience with, the latest and greatest, 1Password Version 3.7.1 (build 31089) the Safari Extension could be used to select the desired Log On open the relevant page and be Logged In with one click.

Is this now the norm for this extension ‘unlocking’ should it be expected to ‘Lock’ in sync with 1Password Application?

Is there any way to set the Safari Extension to default to open on All Log Ins rather than the selection of focus?

If not perhaps there is a possibility for taking this into consideration for development?

Browsing these Forums it is apparent that Agile deal with a great number of queries which seem to stem from ‘personal preferences’, thank you for handling this so well.

Not only is the product THE best but it also has THE best Customer Service.

Oh, for anyone interested I do not have any connection with Agile other than as a very happy customer.

    Hi Stan,

Thanks for your kind comments, we really appreciate it.

The extension now follows the lock/unlock settings in the main 1Password app. As soon as you unlock 1Password, the Safari 5.1 extension will be unlocked as well as long as you don’t disable the automatic unlock options in the 1Password’s Preferences > Security. For more information on this, please read our help guide on the Security Preferences.

As for the defaulting to the All Logins section, you can do this by using the second keyboard shortcut, the default is Command + Option + \. You can change this if you want in the 1Password’s Preferences > Logins, look for the "Go & Fill keyboard shortcut” option.

I hope that helps, please let me know.

    Hi Mike

I would prefer the default setting, by that I mean the setting already in place when the Extension is run, to be All Log Ins.

Sorry to be a die hard AllBookmarks fan, but that would make accessing the page of choice much faster and completely replace the need for AllBookmarks.

You see I am prepared to see an old friend die for the sake of progress <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> .

My regular Internet scenario goes like this:

    Run browser

Glance at the News Headlines [BBC News my home page]

Review anything of interest or concern

    Hit the 1Password Extension

Select the desired Log In page

OK so it is only a triple key press extra to do this, but it is every time the Internet is accessed.

Please lodge this as a modification, via a Preferences Setting so as not to upset those who may prefer the current set up, request for consideration in a later release.

Of course if the Team find themselves with time on their hands <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> , consideration could perhaps be given to converting the Extension into a ‘mini app’ [not mini as regards input?]. My vision [but not ability] turning it in to a Menu Bar Icon activated Application like, dare I say it, AllBookmarks?

The result would be a 1Password protected version of AllBookmarks, now that would be icing on the cake.

    Very many thanks.

Hah! When I get some free time, I need to take my wife out to dinner <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> She hasn't seen me much over the last too weeks, so I need to do something to make up for it. Thankfully she is a 1Password user, so that helps <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Regarding the "mini app", I don't want to spoil any surprises, but I think you'll be happy with what you see in the future. We're focused on Safari at the moment, so please be patient as it will take awhile.

Go to it Dave, make sure your lady really enjoys that meal and that you do also.

Quality time, you cannot beat it.

No problem waiting on future developments, Agile have always come up with the goods in the past, anyone moving away to competition [not sure there is any real competition] would be the loser.

Like the man said “life is what happens to you whilst you are planning what to do with it” so be happy now, if that means more quality time take it now.

All the very best wishes to you and your wife.

I think Dave is busy having dinner with his wife — I certainly hope so anyway — so I want to say thanks on his behalf. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I keep constantly being reminded that we have the best customers on the planet, and you have once again affirmed this.

Best regards to you as well. You have put a smile on the faces of all of us here at AgileBits.

P.S. I hope they are not actually having dinner at this hour, but you know what I meant. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
