Windows Version Has No Password Generator?

I've just finished setting up 1Password on my Mac and all of the sites we need managed are there. I wish I had started on the PC because the lack of a password generator in the PC product is a dealbreaker. What's the point of this software if you can't generate passwords? The "help" shows screenshots of a password generator but gives you no clue how to bring it up. Why you can't bring it up right in the login editing interface like the Mac version is a complete mystery to me.

Also, while I've instructed 1Password to install the browser extensions for IE and Firefox, the 1P button appears in neither browser. The "help" suggested in these forums is to uninstall and re-install the extension, which I've done carefully dozens of times now to no effect.

I really wish I had been told that the PC product was so lacking so I could've chosen something else. Weekend wasted, $100 wasted and wife is furious with me.

    Found it!

In the Mac version there is a K/V list at the bottom of the login editing interface. This is not where you generate passwords in the Mac version. Instead there is a large, easy-to-spot "Generate" button right beside the password field.

In the Windows version, there is no "Generate" button present in the top-level login editing interface. Rather, you double-click on a password field in the K/V list at the bottom (which is COMPLETELY unexpected if you're coming from the Mac version) and then you get a dialog box with a "Generate" button in it.

I'm sorry no one responded to your post sooner, but I'm very happy you found the password generator.

In addition to the method you described, you can also choose File > New Item > Password (if the View > Generated Passwords option is enabled). This is documented under How do I create a strong password? in the FAQ section of the user's guide. That topic also explains how to generate a strong password from within the 1Password browser extensions.

We ask that new users take a few minutes to read the Introduction, Getting Started, and Tutorials sections of the user's guide. They're short, and they'll give you the information you need to get up to speed quickly. As you use 1Password for Windows, we believe you'll find the FAQ section to be a useful resource, too.

On Windows, the secure password generator is there where you primarily need it: in your web browser

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_Windows/introduction.html#strong_password_generator

If you're not seeing our toolbar button in your browser, here are instructions:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_Windows/missing-1P-button.html

If you ever need to (re-)generate a secure password for one of your login items, simply double-click on one of them in the stand-alone 1Password application, and then double-click on the password field.
