1Password 3 lost ability to autofill username and password

<div class="IPBDescription">PLEASE HELP ME</div>Hello ... I'm sure this is a known issue but I need someone to come down to my ignorant level and explain to me what I need to do to fix my problem.

Prior to going to LION, 1Password 3 used to automatically fill in usernames and passwords for me on my website. Now that I have moved to LION I have lost this capability. It fills in username but not passwords. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this a known issue? Does anyone know if there is a fix for this problem or if Agile is working on a fix? Or is this a unique problem to my setup?

Thanks in advance,

Rich Goldman

    Hi Rich!

    Welcome to the forum. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Is this happening on every website, or just a handful?

    Thanks.

    Ben
  • Ben,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes it is happening to every website that I connect to.

  • Thanks for confirming that, Rich,

It sounds like you may have an older version of both 1Password and either not have our Safari extension installed or have an older version. We've been working hard to improve the extension, fix issues and hopefully get everything working.

Our latest update was released just last night and to get this new update please go to 1Password > Check for Updates to get our latest 1Password 3.7.1 update.

Once that's done, please update the Safari extension to the latest version by performing a manual update within Safari > Preferences > Extensions as we detail at the bottom of this guide:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/safari_5.1_install_update.html

If you don't have the extension installed already, please go to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and click 'Install Safari Extension' to get this installed.

With some of the new changes in the update, there are few extra steps to follow. First of all, please go to Help > Troubleshooting > Restart Agent within 1Password and finally restart safari with Command-Option-Q to ensure the extension is properly reloaded.

Please let me know how that goes,

  • Awesome ... I think this did it. I just did the software update on my Macbook Air and now it is back working as it should be working. I need to try to do the update on my iMAC tonight. Thank you SO much for your help and support!

    Hi Rich,

Thanks for the update, I’m glad everything is working now.

On behalf of Ben and Stu, you’re welcome.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
  • Okay so some sites don't auto populate. So I figured I need to update the new Safari 5.1 extension. I got to the Extensions as you have described in your doc but instead of saying install it says uninstall and I see a get extensions button on the bottom. What should I do?
  • Rich,

Sorry for any confusion here, the updates mechanism for the Safari extension is actually at the bottom left, where you see the software update symbol and 'Updates' as you see here:

    http://d.pr/uhmq

There seems to be some issues with how these automatic updates work, so if you uncheck 'Update Extensions Automatically' you should then see the latest Beta update, if you don't already have 3.7 b9 as you can see in the above screenshot.

    Thanks,
