James, could you be a little more specific, so we can understand what's going wrong for you?

It sounds like you're using Internet Explorer 9; is that correct?

If so, have you confirmed that the 1Password browser is enabled?

yes, i am using IE 9 and I can confirm that this browser is enable under preferences.

I can also add that I can see the 1password icon on my IE9 command bar.

On a side note - is there suppose to be right click option to access 1password with the windows version like there is on the mac version?

    Thanks.

So, which of these is the problem?

You can't invoke 1Password in the browser (either by clicking on the button or pressing Ctrl+\).

When you invoke 1Password in the browser to save a Login item, the save fails.

1Password doesn't automatically offer to save a Login when you submit a form for a site where you don't yet have a Login saved.

There's some other problem: __________________________________________

Where are you right-clicking in 1Password for Mac (or in which browser, and where in the browser window)?

    Here are my problems:

    1) I cannot invoke either by right clicking in the password area or by CTRL+\ (the only way i could invoke a password was through the 1password icon that was on my command bar in IE9 but that has disappeared)

    2) 1password does not ask to save a login item where I don't have a login saved

Note: the problems relate to 1password for windows trial version (I also have licensed versions of 1password for mac, ipad and iphone)
  • Thanks for the follow-up, James!

Right-clicking in the browser has no effect on 1Password for Windows (none that I know of, anyway). Is that something you're able to do in a Mac browser with the 1Password for Mac extensions? If so, can you tell us where? (I can't get it to do anything related to 1Password for Mac in either Chrome or Safari 5.1 on my Mac.)
...or by CTRL+\
If Ctrl+\ isn't working for you, please see this article:

Do you have the Enable Auto-Save of Logins in browsers option enabled on the Auto-Save tab of 1Password preferences?

Thanks for the help on this, I have been able to get most of the functions working except for enable auto save.

    1) Good to know about the right click in windows and safari 5.1 , I did like having this on safari before 5.1 but I noticed it disappeared when I update to safari 5.1

    2) CTRL + \ - now works!

    3) icon now available (for some reason when I open a new window any icons I have do not appear on the command bar - obviously a windows issue)

4)Do you have the Enable Auto-Save of Logins in browsers option enabled on the Auto-Save tab of 1Password preferences? YES, but for some reason this is still not working

There are definitely some sites that pose obstacles to 1Password. If you let us know some specific URLs, we can look into individual cases to see whether there's some way to improve our "success rate."

Whenever 1Password fails to auto-save, you can use the method described in Saving a Login item the Tutorials section of the user's guide.

Hmm...there may be a misconnect, here, James.

1Password doesn't "auto-update"—when you change a password, you need to tell both the web site and 1Password about it. Please see How do I use a generated password? in the FAQ section of the user's guide for instructions.

On the other hand, if I've misunderstood your point, please let us know.

OK, just to clear things up, right now 1password for windows is not asking to save any new logins and if I change an existing login it is not asking to update my login - does that make sense?

Hey, James! I just tested this myself on the site and it should be working.

Are you unable to manually save a Login item in your browser as well? Please try it. You can do this by filling your Login credentials, clicking the 1Password toolbar button, and then clicking Save Login. Please let me know. I look forward to hearing back from you. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Again, the only way 1Password will automatically ask whether you want to update an existing Login item is if you go to the same URL and enter a different password; otherwise, you have to update your Login item as explained in that tutorial I cited.

I am not sure what happened but I just did a test with an existing site that I had a password for in 1passwords - I entered a new username and password and 1password auto save worked! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Thanks for the great service on this!
