Why does 1password connects to google?

My network connection filter that I have reset during my migration to my new Macbook Pro has picked up 1password connecting to ghs.google.com. Any idea on why and for what reason this is happening?

We use Google App Engine for in the automatic update code for checking if a new release is available. We technically use the URL updates.agilebits.com, but the IP is Google's so that's what reverse IP lookups show.

Automatic updates are incredibly useful, but if you'd prefer to avoid this, you can disable them in the 1Password preferences.

Thanks Dave for the reply. I kind of suspected that it was an update check link but I thought that should have pointed to Agile URL and not google especially since the code server has been shut down.

Yes I do think that the automatic updates are a blessing, I even download all betas.

The App it's just great! It's one of the best spent money on my Mac.

    Thanks. M.

On Dave's behalf, you're very welcome. From what I understand Google App Engine is very different to Google Code, I believe it's more akin to something like Amazon S3 or EC2.
