Using new 1Password for Mac passwords in iPad

I am a new user of 1Password for Mac 3. Now that I've generated a new password on my mac for Google, I cannot log into gmail on my iPad. I have tried inputting the new 1Password password manually 10 times (no kidding) and it doesn't work. What to do? Should I download the itunes iPad version? Will it automatically transfer passwords from my Mac to my iPad. Honestly, I am having a tough time with 1Password.

  • Hi ntpipgras,

That's incredibly strange, if Google is accepting the password on the Mac then it should 'just work' on the iPad, 1Password itself doesn't change the Google password, you do this yourself using the generated password that 1Password created for you.

I guess the question I'd ask is how complex is the password you set? If you're not using our iOS applications then maybe using the pronounceable section of the password generator is a better option.

    Hope that helps,

  • Maybe I didn't say things correctly, Stu. Here's the problem:

I have generated new passwords for Facebook and Google (gmail) using 1Password 3 on my Mac. I have had to manually put my new passwords into my iPad and iPhone in order to use them.

This is quite cumbersome. Is there way to sync my new 1Passwords easily into my iPhone and iPad?

Would buying the iPhone & iPad 1Password apps from iTunes enable me to sync the passwords from my Mac?

    Thank you,

    Nancie
  • Sorry for the confusion, Nancie,

Yes, in order to sync your 1Password data across to your iPhone and iPad and access it easily you will need 1Password Pro, our universal iOS version of 1Password which is available form the iTunes App Store for $14.99 here:

    http://itunes.apple.com/app/1password-pro/id319898689

You can then easily sync your existing 1Password data from the Mac to your iPhone and iPad using the free Dropbox service as we detail here:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/cloud_syncing_with_dropbox.html

One thing to mention, which does confuse some people at first, is that the 1Password app for iOS can't be integrated with Mobile Safari or other mobile browsers in the same way as 1Password is integrated with web browsers on the Mac and PC. This is because at this time, the mobile browsers are not extensible with plug-ins to do what 1Password needs.

For this reason, we've included a Safari-like browser within 1Password that you can use to fill your details on web sites. You can learn more about logging into sites with 1Password by looking at our user guide:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_iPad/log_into_sites.html (iPad)

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/log_into_sites.html (iPhone)

    Hope that all makes sense,
