Suggestion: Custom Field Names, Templates

I live in Australia and several of the field names in various templates are not correct for this country or miss important details. For example, the template for a bank account has a field for a bank's SWIFT Code. A typical customer here would rarely if ever use this code. In contrast, bank accounts in Australia are identified by a BSB number and an account number. While I can use the SWIFT field for the BSB or add the BSB to the start of the Account Number Field, neither is correct. Adding the BSB to the Account Number field also mucks up automatic entry on banking and other sites.

Similarly, over here many membership cards for things such as health insurance, automobile associations, etc. and some bank accounts use a two factor membership number. While the second number can be stored in the Notes field, it would be useful to be able to store it in the main body of the record.

In light of this, being able to add fields or edit field names in templates would be very useful.

Thank you for a truly excellent product. After trying many alternatives over the years, this is the first secure information manager that is useful enough for me to actually use every day in addition to the OSX keychain.

    Hi Steven

The team will be working on bringing custom field names / items to 1P in a future update but they do not give time frames sorry. We will add your name to the list of those awaiting it's debut.

ps I am on the list as well :)

    Just to back up Tommy's excellent response;

We're certainly looking into allowing this sort of customisation, I'm in the UK myself so the bank account template is equally as irrelevant to me. I know we played with this back in the early Betas of 1Password 3 but we hit some fairly major stumbling blocks, particularly regarding syncing with our 1Password touch apps. So while we're keen to add this I'm pretty sure the last thing our users would want is a buggy implementation that wouldn't work well with 1Password on the iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad versions of 1Password.

You know what they say though, watch this space, or actually better still watch http://blog.agile.ws as when we have something up our sleeves we may well give the odd sneak peak there first :-)

No guarantees, but we'll probably not be adding templates in the meantime, because we really want to get the custom items implemented. Thanks for the feedback; we're listening!
  • Does anyone have a method for storing insurance cards in 1Password?

I am mainly speaking of health insurance. There are several fields not accounted for in any of the wallet categories that 1Password offers.

    Consider my health insurance card:

    Subscriber Name

    Subscriber Identification Number

    Group No.

    Subgroup

    Payroll Number

    Copayments

    Plan Codes

I could store in a note, but I'd like to keep this organized in my wallet.

It would be great to do this with ALL of my insurance information (Auto, Homeowners, Health, Prescriptions, Vision, Dental, Personal Property Insurace...etc)

I think the best solution would be to have a generic Insurance item that you could add your own fields and field names to.

    Thoughts?

    Hi johncade,

Welcome to the forums! I have merged your post with another thread which I think covers much of the same ground. As Rob already pointed out:
No guarantees, but we'll probably not be adding templates in the meantime, because we really want to get the custom items implemented. Thanks for the feedback; we're listening!
I myself use "Membership" Wallet items for insurance, adding extra information in the Notes field for the item. It is tiding me over until we get some more templates and custom fields.

    I hope that helps! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • What about a template to store either a Mac or Windows login?

    User name

    Password

    Domain

    Computer name

    IP

    Phone

    Email

    Something like that.

    Thanks.

    Stephen
  • I'd also like to see a template to store Google Apps account information please.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestions, Stephen!

In the meantime, I store the different aspects of my Google Apps information in different items: e-mail Account, webmail Login, etc.

We are looking into improving this in a future update.

I want to enter the VIN numbers for my cars. I figured it would go in the Wallet area. Don't see a good place for it. In other password applications I've used you could create new items. Can you do that in 1Password?

    Thanks

We are excited to bring custom templates to a future update, but at this time they are not present in the application.

Please consider a Secure Note or the notes field of any item type for now. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer yet, but I hope that helps.
