Should I upgrade from 1PW 3.6.5?

I'm still on Snow Leopard (and will probably remain there for a while). I also have no desire to upgrade to Safari 5.1, which from my reading, strikes me as both Beta quality and a program that breaks lots of things.

So given that I will remain on Snow Leopard and Safari 5.05, should I upgrade to newer versions of 1PW?

(I see the words "complete rewrite" and I shudder. I think, let someone else undergo the death by a thousand bugs until things get settled out.)

Thoughts?

A few weeks ago I upgraded to 3.6.5, and after also upgrading to Safari 5.1 had big problems. (I'm on Snow Leopard.) I use 1 Password all the time and absolutely LOVE it, but the problems with the new paradigm were so awful, I downgraded back to Safari 5.05 and 1Password 3.6.0. Given all the hassles and displeasure with the "rewrite", and the fact that I don't care much for the new look anyway, I plan to let a lot of dust settle before I upgrade.

Agile let me know about all the new changes, and urged me to stay with Safari due to security reasons. But frankly, I don't think Safari 5.0.5 is that great a security risk… not for what I do. Agile a great company, but I don't believe they had to do a whole new version of this trusted and popular software. "If it ain't broke… "

Apple removed Scripting Additions from developer builds of Lion and brought them back only at the last minute. This is likely a sign that Apple plans to phase this technology out, and soon, but is giving developers a little more time to make the transition. Because we're trying to standardize our extension experience across browsers and prepare for the future, we have already taken Apple's progressive philosophy to heart and are looking towards the future to create a better experience for all customers.

A rewrite was indeed necessary to take advantage of all the new features in Safari 5.1 like sandboxing for increased security and automatic updates for the extension separate from the main application.

Is there anything in particular with the new extension that you are having trouble with? We have made enormous updates to the new Safari 5.1 extension even in the short time since Safari 5.1 was released, and we are still working to improve things even further. Feedback from 1Password users is much appreciated. Please let me know if there are any particular issues you are having. I would love to get them addressed.

    Cheers,

I have no problems with the new extension because I'm not using it and haven't tried it yet.

So the answer to my question seems to be - if I'm not using Safari 5.1, then stay at 3.6.5 - where I am now. "Enormous upgrades" are fine and I know you guys are working really hard, but I think I'll wait a few months or so and you're down to making small tweaks. I've got better things to worry about than being part of an involuntary beta program.
