Safari Extension

<div class="IPBDescription">Get left with a blank page</div>Good morning,

When i get a new 1 Password update, I always load it. However, before I top so, I always uninstall the currently installed Safari extension.

Once this step is completed, ,I load the new Safari extension from 1Password Preferences.

All goes well, but I am left with a blank page, which on further investigation, refers me to the Activity window.

I have attached the window as a .tiff file to this message.

Questionw:

Why is this so?

Does it interfere in any way with operation of 1Password under Safari.

Incidentally, both 1Password and Safari are the latest available software.

With thanks

All the best,

Ron

    Why? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> This is not necessary.

We didn't get the attachment. Please give it another shot so we can see what's going on.

    Thanks

I have been using 1Password for a long time; but I guess I'm also a little confused about the extension, so excuse me if I seem ignorant. When I update 1Password, does that automatically update the Safari extension or do I have to do something else? I think I am also a little confused by the message to update the Safari extension first.

    Thanks,

    Robb

    Hi Robb

Not necessarily -- there isn't always a new Safari extension with each 1P release, and there may be an extension update without a 1P release.

Safari is capable of handling automatic extension updates itself, if the option under Safari > Preferences > Extensions > Updates > Install Updates Automatically is selected.

Thanks for the reply, so I take it that I just do the application update and let Safari worry about the extension. That's easy enough.

One last thing ... I appreciate all the security built into 1Password; but I live alone and rarely take my laptop out now that the iPad is my main out of house experience. I have all the preferences set to not ask me for my master password in the application. Is there any way to cause the extension to NOT ask me for my master password each time I restart my laptop or at other times?

    THANKS AGAIN.

    Hey Robb,

"Never prompt for master password" is not currently supported in Safari 5.1, but you should be able to dramatically reduce the number of times you are prompted for it by unchecking the two options directly above it in 1Password's preferences. With both the "Disable automatic unlock…" options unchecked, you will only need to unlock 1Password once and it will be remain unlocked until the Auto-Lock settings kick in.

In the Auto-Lock area, you will note that I have disabled the time-based setting and rely exclusively on the sleep setting. This means that 1Password doesn't bother me for my password except at the beginning of the day (or after a restart), but if I close the lid to transport my MacBook everything gets locked up tight. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Cheers,
