Fill Login keyboard shortcut not working in Safari 5.1

Hi face,
We didn't change anything in this regard, Cmd+\ should still open 1P.

Please try resetting the keyboard shortcuts. Their location can be seen in the above guide. Try changing them to something else and then back.
Thanks

This did not work. I tried resetting the keyboard shortcuts and restarting the 1P agent.
This has been going on for a week now - removing the extension and restarting everything seemed to work temporarily but as soon as the extension updated itself the shortcuts broke again.
Please fix this.
On a semi-related note, I understand that the extension is in Beta. But it would be nice to have a stable release that works, and have the option of upgrading to only "stable" releases - rather than newer Beta ones that seem to fix certain bugs but cause new ones. I understand your team is working hard but it's really frustrating to go to log in somewhere and find that it's starting to take longer to log in via 1P than it would with a simple spreadsheet.Flag 0 -

Can you tell me which version of 1Password and the extension you have installed at the moment?

We're getting closer and closer to having something we'd be happy to call 'Stable' for the Safari extension but I can't say for certain when this will be. If we hadn't have made these Betas available, there would have been no Safari 5.1 support at all, and while in general we hate making folks use a Beta unless they want to, we felt this was the best option for now.Flag 0 -

Hi Stu, thanks for following up.
The extension is 3.7b10 and the application is 3.7.2 build 31099.
I don't really have any doubts that following the steps in the thread I linked to (deleting the extension and refreshing/resetting everything) will fix this, but it's frustrating to have the shortcusts break multiple times.
From the 1Password twitter feed (and other posts on here, including the original poster's) it looks like others are having issues with getting the shortcuts to work too.Flag 0 -
Is the 1P button visible in the toolbar? The keyboard shortcuts will not work if the button is in the toolbar but the toolbar is hidden. Try quitting Safari (Command-Q in Snow Leopard and Option-Command-Q in Lion). This will discard your open tabs, so please bookmark the sties you have open if you need them.
Does the Option-Command-\ keyboard shortcut work in Safari?
Do you have any better luck setting a different shortcut in 1Password > Preferences > Logins?

I was also running into the issue of the 1Password Cmd+\ shortcut not running, but think I may have figured out the problem. When I installed 1Password 3.7.2, it offered to install the extension for Safari 5.1, which I accepted. However, it did NOT install the latest version of the Safari Extension (it was listed as a BETA-24, or something similar). It was only after clicking on the Updates area of the Extensions pane in Safari Preferences that it finally pulled in the most recent 1Password extension (3.7.b10). After seeing the switch, I did a non-"save state" exit (CMD+OPT+Q) [I'm using Lion], and upon relaunch the CMD+\ shortcut now works. I also noticed that I'm getting an updated interface in the extension.
In short, I think there's some corruption going on between the version of the Safari extension that's installed as part of the 1Password 3.7.2 dmg file, and the update to the 3.7.b10 version taking hold. I'm guessing that both older version and the updated version are somehow co-existing, and that's causing Safari to get "confused" and so the CMD+\ shortcut launches neither version.
Again, this is just a wild-eyed guess, but once I successfully got the extension in Safari to update to read 3.7.b10, then everything started to work.
As a side note to khad: your preference panel is different than what I'm seeing in 1Password for Mac 3.7.2. I'm not sure about other folks, but mine has fewer options and looks like this:
Obviously I don't know if you guys at Agile are using a different version of 1Password in-house compared to the consumer version, but if so, that could also be a reason why it'd be working properly for you folks and not for some of the consumers (again, just a wild-eyed guess... please don't take offense).Flag 0 -
Thanks for the update, Allocentric. I'm glad it is working well for you now.
You are correct. One of the first things to check is that you are running the latest versions. Currently that is 1Password 3.7.2 and Safari extension 3.7.b13. Unless you have explicitly disabled the feature, Safari will automatically update the 1Password extension as new versions are released.
We will be pulling the extension from the network in future versions to always ensure that the latest version is used rather than relying on automatic updates in Safari to download an update to the version of the extension that was included in the app bundle.
The "Quit and Discard Windows" (Option-Command-Q) command in Safari on Lion can be an essential part of the extension installation. For this reason it is included in the User Guide.
Thanks again for the update!
P.S. Your screen shot is correct. The one above was from an older version. The changes are happening so rapidly lately that a screen shot from today may not be valid tomorrow! Part of me can't wait until this slows down just a bit, but it is exciting in the mean time. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />Flag 0 -
Khad (and others) - not sure what got fixed in the newest updates, but the keyboard shortcut is working like a dream now, after updating the app and extension this morning. (b13 - weren't we at b10 just a day or two ago?!). Thanks again for your hard work. Despite all the frustration with things being buggy (that's what I get for relying so heavily on 1P) I concede that the extension has come a long way since Lion was released.Flag 0

Thanks so much for the update and the kind words. We have indeed been working very hard to get everything working well under Lion. Glad to hear it is paying off! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
