Feature Request: Launch 1Password from browser
Hej to everybody,
i am missing the possibility to open 1PassWord from the 1PW-Browserwindow (in my case under the Firefox 5.0). At this time i start the 1Password Mainapplication as an separate program.
Or am i wrong and i did not find the possibility to do that?
If so it will be fine if someone give me hints about the doing of that.
Thanks
Rolf

Hi Rolf,
I'm a little confused as to what you mean here, but if you're asking if 1Password supports Firefox 5 then the answer is yes, we do. Please make sure you have the latest version of 1Password for Windows by going to Help > Check for New Version from within 1Password itself.
Hope that helps,Flag 0 -
Hej Stu,
thanks for answering me...
No, you misunderstood me... or... i am not exactly in my wish....
I will try it again...
When i am surfing with - in my case Firefox and not IE - i can open 1PW with CTRL+\ in Firefox and the "Browserwindow" from 1PW appears. Or when i go to a forum where i have to login and press the button of 1PW the "browser1PWwindow" opens to fill in the userdata and password. That works fine and is a useful application.
But - when the "Browser1PWwindow" is open - and i want to go to the main application 1Password for Windows to take a look to the data entries i have to go to "Start->all programs>1Password" and start the program by "hand".
What i wish is a possibility to do that out of the "Browser1PWwindow" so i am quicker to open the Mainapplication...
Hope, that is now a little bit clearer what i am wishing?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Rolf!
It sounds like you want a way to launch the 1Password program from within the 1Password browser extension.
There used to be a button to do just that, but it was removed many weeks ago during a re-design of the extension user interface.
All our browser extensions are undergoing some continued development, and it remains to be seen whether the "lLaunch 1Password button will be restored.
Thanks for your patience!Flag 0 -
Thanks for the kind words, Rolf! We do our best to help. We will see if we can add a way to launch the main 1Password application from within the browser in a future version.
And greetings from...the US, UK, Netherlands and Canada! Thanks for your support! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

Please do, it would be a very useful button, it the Mac toolbar has this functionality. Actually it would be nice to see the toolbar Mac version make it's way to Windows.Flag 0 -
We just added "Launch 1Password" to our new Safari 5.1 (Mac) extension, so I am hopeful that we may be able to do so elsewhere as well. More importantly, we are working on unifying the interface/functionality across all extensions on both platforms. This is a monumental task so it is too early to say for certain if or when this might be completed, but we want to give the same great experience to all of our customers! Kepp an eye out. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

In the meantime, it's quite simple to put a 1Password shortcut on the Windows desktop or task bar.

I know, db, but shortcuts are so 90's.
I am personally a fan of global hotkeys. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

You can assign a global hotkey to a shortcut here:
1. right-click on a shortcut
2. select "properties"
3. select the tab labelled "shortcut"
4. under "shortcut key", enter your own hotkey
5. press OKFlag 0
