<div class="IPBDescription">Not working in Safari 5.1/Lion</div>I have the latest version of everything:

Mac OS X 10.7

1Password ver. 3.7.2 Build 31099

Safari 5.1 (7534.48.3)

!Password extension 3.7.b10

Here's what I see when I click on the 1P button in the browser:

Everything works ok in Chrome and Firefox (uses older interface.)

The 1PW application itself works, but I have to copy and paste info and I get no usable action at all from the browser button in Safari.

  • Hi Rob,

I'm sorry for the trouble here, the broken 1Password window can be caused by several unsupported Safari extensions. Because of the unsupported nature in which they interact with applications, these extensions can interfere greatly with the proper behaviour of the 1Password browser extensions.

Examples of extensions we've seen that cause issues are "SafariSniffer" and "Wondershare AllMyTube/Free YouTube Downloader". It is likely other unsupported extensions would result in similar problems.

You can see if you have any of these installed by looking in these folders:

    ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions (in your Home folder)

/Library/ScriptingAdditions (in the root of your hard disk)

The most popular one is SIMBL, but there are others as well. Try moving anything you find in these folders somewhere else, for example, to your Desktop. Once the files are moved, please restart Safari and I suspect you will be greeted with a much more enjoyable 1Password experience.

    Hope that helps,

I don't have an answer but I mention this in case it helps. Setting:

    Mac OS X 10.6.8

    1Password ver. 3.7.2 Build 31099

    Safari 5.1 (6534.50)

    1Password extension 3.7.b10

I have experienced a similar problem with the 1P extension for Safari 5.1. It has happened a few times in the last three days or so. An image (similar to the one attached on your post) appears for a second and then everything goes back to normal. The image changes very rapidly to the usual 1P extension login window. The actual login data has not been altered.

I am experiencing the same issue and I don't have the extensions mentioned in the fix. Moreover, iPW no longer does auto fill of websites. Rapidly losing confidence in 1PW. LastPass does a better job.

  • Thanks, Stu. It was the SIMBL extension. I removed it and all is now fine. But what does SIMBL do? I have no idea where it came from, or when I'm going to want it.

You can read about the SIMBL technology from the developer's web site here. In the case of this particular SIMBL bundle, it is interfering with the HTML of our popup window so you are seeing several "views" all bleeding into each other instead of being one at a time.
