export all + requesting master password on Win7 IE9

Hi, I Just purchased 1password for Windows (home pc) and want to also use on my iPad when travelling, I have Dropbox.

Primary purpose is to keep track of personal info, travel details, credit cards etc, and the endless usernames and passwords I need to remember.

So first check was export - purpose so that I can just print all this laboriously entered info out and give a copy to a trusted family member in a sealed envelope. Please add the info that you have to use the 1password format to do this to the tutorials, took me a while to find in the forums.

I can live with the tragic format although would prefer something a bit cleaner <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Second check - Have been testing it out on some trivial websites of which I am a member -

BUT even if 1password is open (and not timed out) when I click the 1pass button in the browser (In OS 7 - IE 9.0.8)it asks me for the master 1pass password and says 1pass is locked. I did restart my computer - sigh, as often that helps but no joy.

So a complete waste of time on my secured home pc doing low security stuff - the ''iPhone Security'' is set to high and cannot be changed. As I don't have an iPhone this is vexing in the extreme. I really only use an IE browser for a variety of reasons, but if I have to use another then please make that clear in the tutorials. SO the login functionality is useless to me, but still good to have the record of the username password in one secure place.

I am hoping that when I put this on the iPad 2 that it is more useful, main idea was to enter the master password once only per ''session'' and have 1password do the work unobserved if I am in cafes, airport lounges etc.

thanks

    Welcome to the forum, spmm!

You can export your Logins to delimited text, which you can then open in a spreadsheet program or text editor for formatting and printing.

As for handing a copy to a trusted family member, I'd recommend copying your entire 1Password.agilekeychain folder to an inexpensive USB "stick" drive. You can either give that to the relative or drop it in your safe deposit box or wherever you keep important papers—a lot more convenient than paper.

Don't forget that your 1Password data is already accessible to you from your private Dropbox web site, even if your computer is lost or stolen. Can you say the same about that brother-in-law? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Have you read the user's guide topic Why is my 1Password data locked? It explains exactly why that happens and what you can do if you don't like that behavior.

Yeah, that bugs me, too. I don't know why the ability to change the security setting was removed, a while back, from 1Password for Window, and I wish it would be restored.

I'm not sure why you think you have to use some other browser. You can use Chrome or Firefox, if you prefer, but 1Password works fine with IE (except on a few sites where IE prevents it, because of overzealous security restrictions).

I can't see how any of the things you've mentioned make login functionality useless.

I hope you won't mind my asking that you take a few minutes to read the Introduction, Getting Started, and Tutorials sections of the user's guide. They're short, and they'll give you the information you need to get up to speed quickly. As you use 1Password for Windows, we believe you'll find the FAQ section to be a useful resource, too.
