FireFox Extension Issue

<div class="IPBDescription">No worky...</div>Hello,

We emailed Agile support on the 25th or 26th of July regarding this issue, but have not heard back and are giving it a shot on the forum.

My wife uses 1PW with FireFox (both most current versions) in Snow Leopard. Ever since an update in mid-July, her FireFox extension button has ceased to work. When clicking on the 1PW icon, nothing happens, except for some graphic artifact square (maybe 6x4 pixels) appearing in the lower left portion of the button.

We have tried uninstalling the extension both via the 1PW preferences interface, and via FireFox's add-ons manager. While the extension was successfully removed and reinstalled, it did not fix the issue.

How do we get the functionality of 1PW back so that my wife can start easily logging into sites again?

Thanks!

-Marshall

Welcome to the forums, Marshall. It looks like all you received from us via email was a very brief automatic reply. I apologize for the inconvenience. We are still swamped with email, but I would be glad to help you here!

In your email, you mentioned using 1Password 3.6.5. Please be sure you are up to date with 1Password (currently 3.7.2 at the time of this writing).

Could you attach a screenshot of your Firefox extensions window to your reply to this post? As an example, here is mine:

Have you had a chance to step through the Firefox troubleshooting guide yet? If not, I would suggest that is a good starting place. There a some known issues and resolutions there, but if you post that screenshot, that will help me rule out some things and know how to proceed.

    Thanks!
  • Hi Khad!

We seem to have fixed it, for now. We have the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' FireFox add-on installed and enabled so that we could use some FF add-ons that claim to not be FF 5 compatible, when they really are. Once we disabled this on my wife's computer, her 1PW button started working (of course other stuff broke...). The interesting part is that in the about:config 'extensions.checkCompatibility' is set at false, despite the 1PW instructions saying this should be set at true. Her 1PW button is working with the false value - strange.

Furthermore, on my computer, 1PW works fine in FireFox, even with the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' enabled. Very, very strange.

My wife is happy that her 1PW button is back working, but is extremely unhappy that other add-ons are broken (the ones that required the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' to be enabled. And she isn't particularly amused that things are fine on my computer, with the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' enabled, and all my add-ons working.

Any idea what is going on? She would be extremely happy to be able to turn the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' back on so that she can have her add-ons back.

Attached is a screenshot of her add-ons/extensions. You can see which ones are broken when the 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' is turned off. The one she is really unhappy about not having is the Google Toolbar.

    Thanks for your help!

Looks like Tab Mix Plus has an update available:

    http://tmp.garyr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10888

Google says the have discontinued Google Toolbar on Firefox because most of the features it offers are built-in to the browser:

    http://www.ghacks.net/2011/07/21/google-toolbar-support-for-firefox-5-discontinued/

So though Google Toolbar works in Firefox 5 with add-on compatibility disabled, it will eventually break even with that, and Google has no plans to fix it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Sorry I don't have better news.
