Dropbox Sync Disabled
<div class="IPBDescription">Almost every time I use the iPhone app, I need to enable Dropbox Sync</div>I've been using Dropbox to sync my Mac, PC, iPhone, and iPad, for a long time. I've been noticing recently, though, that almost every time I use 1P on my iPhone, I need to turn Dropbox Sync on, and tell it to sync. Why does it keep turning off?

I honestly have never heard of this happening before. Are you saying that you turn Dropbox Sync ON and later it is OFF again? Are you force-quitting 1Password? It sounds like maybe the settings aren't being saved, so I wonder if there are others that change as well.
Is your iPhone jailbroken, and what versions of 1Password and iOS are you running? One thing to keep in mind is that if you don't turn Remember ON for your Master Password when setting up Dropbox you will have to manually sync, but that shouldn't turn off Dropbox Sync completely.Flag 0 -
I have never jailbroken, I'm running the most recent versions of 1P and iOS, and I never force-quit the app.
Where do I set it to remember the master password? I don't see that option, only to show the master password as I type it. Do I need to set it when I turn Dropbox syncing on? If so, I must have missed it, and would suggest in a future release to add that setting to the form where you enter your password, in case you change your mind.
I think what's probably happening is that once the app is killed in the background, it stops syncing because on the next launch, it's missing my master password.
Another thought just occurred to me, though. I've restored my iPhone from other devices, which I know doesn't restore passwords. Could that be messing it up? Does it remember that I'm syncing with Dropbox, and that I told it to remember my password, but it doesn't have the password anymore?

Hmm. That is an interesting theory. At this point, I think it might be best to reinstall the app completely. Since your data is stored in Dropbox you are all set. Just tap and hold the 1Password icon until it "jiggles", tap the red circle to remove it, and then reinstall it from App Store > Updates > Purchased. Then just set it up again with a new data file and Dropbox sync (be sure to turn Remember ON), and that should do the trick. Let me know how it goes. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

I tried that, we'll see how it goes. When I turned it back on, Remember Password was set to Off. That could be because it was the default, or because that's how I previously had it set. It could go either way; I suppose you guys could tell me. There were several conflicted items, so I'm not sure what to do about/with them, either (I didn't make any changes since the last sync). I'll post an update after I've had it in the background for a while and it comes up fresh after being killed to let you know if resetting took care of the problem.

Settings > Sync > Dropbox > Account > Reset should do the trick without the need to reinstall the app.

Thanks for the update. We look forward to hearing how it went!Flag 0

That did seem to take care of it. I'll post if I see the issue again. But in any event, can I suggest you add the toggle to remember the master password to the Dropbox Sync->Account screen, instead of only letting the user select that when they initially set up the syncing? If you managed not to have it remember it at first, it's not clear that is a way to do so, and I ended up entering in my password every time, thinking the software was broken.

Hey there! I am glad it is working for you now. I am sorry that I misunderstood you initially!
This is something we will likely add in the future. Thanks for the feedback. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
