Wish: Check for Update in the 1Password plug-in

This Wish is recycled from a months-old topic in the Beta forum.

1Password's Check for Update is currently a feature of the 1Password application.

I often go for days or weeks using the 1Password plug-in in various browsers, without ever launching the standalone app. Thus I'll go days or weeks with no notice of an update. This is especially true after I learned that the Shift modifier changes the plug-in menu from "Fill & Submit" to "Edit" -- these edits had been the primary reason I used the application.

Once I've launched the 1Password app, I leave it running until restarting Mac OS X. Again, I'll go days or weeks with no notice of an update.

It just happened again. I launched the 1Password app to review several entries ... and the auto-update notice appeared, informing me there had been 4 updates (2 beta and 2 normal) since my last update.

Wish: Add a "light-weight" Check for Update to the 1Password browser plug-ins. The "light-weight" aspect means the plug-in would simply check for the update and offer to launch the application to review the description and perform an actual update.

Good idea. With greater functionality being added to the extension every day, there is less and less need to launch the main application. Keep in mind, though, that as a beta tester (and especially during this time of such rapid releases) the number of updates you are seeing between update checks is much more elevated than it would be under normal circumstances for a non-beta tester. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />

I'll see what we can do in this regard, Ward. Thanks for bringing it up again!
