IPassword Browser Extension Connection Problem

ustream
edited August 2011 in Mac
After doing a 'Reset Safari' from the Safari Menu, I have noticed that I am having trouble trying to connect to 1Password (version 3.6.1) using the '1P' icon on my Safari browser and whenever I enter the password it gives me 'Error - Agent Not Connected' and when I click diagnose it produces a report. I am entering the same password on the desktop app and it works just fine. I would be very grateful if anyone can help resolve this please.

  • You need to update to the latest version of 1Password itself, it sounds like the extension auto-updated but 1Password is still on version 3.6.1.

    To get this new update please go to 1Password > Preferences > Updates and check 'Include Beta Versions' and then click 'Check Now' to get our latest update currently 3.7.5.BETA-4

    Once that's done, please update the Safari extension to the latest version, 3.7 b14, by performing a manual update within Safari > Preferences > Extensions as we detail at the bottom of this guide:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/safari_5.1_install_update.html

    With some of the new changes in the update, there are few extra steps to follow. First of all, please go to Help > Troubleshooting > Restart Agent within 1Password and finally restart Safari to ensure the extension is properly reloaded.

    I hope that helps,

    Thanks, that worked like a charm

    P.S: I had to re-register to make this post because when I tried to login using Facebook, the original way I created my account, getting some kind of an an error :
{

    "error": {

    "type": "OAuthException",

    "message": "Invalid redirect_uri: Given URL is not allowed by the Application configuration."

    }

    }
• Someone forgot to turn of Debug mode... those kind of errors shouldn't be propagated to the user <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_tongueout.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-P' />.

    Things happen. I'm sure Facebook has some other things to worry about too. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • I've been working to get the Safari extension correct for over an hour on two nights.

    I have the same problem: 1PW opens correctly as a program launch, but clicking on the extension in Safari produces an error 'agent not connect'.

    Have followed the advice given here, have tried various other posted solutions. Nothing works.

    Using 1PW v. 3.8.0 I just installed tonight. Last night I was using the latest beta version, same problem.

    Safari 5.1

    OSX 10.6.8

    I have ran the troubleshooting report, but ignorant of forums don't see the obvious way to post it or any screen shots.

    Help appreciated

    Hi tawagile,

    Welcome. Please don't upload your troubleshooting report to the forums. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Can you double click on it and see if it reports any problems (near the top)?

    Also can you please try restarting your computer? This should kickstart the 1PasswordAgent process.

    Thanks
