Suggestion where is the ability to recategorize by drag-and-drop??

1Password is in its third major version and STILL does not allow the user to drag and drop records from one category to another. about 98% of my software registration records are, for some reason unknown to me, categorized as "Logins" - likely due to some setting i was expected to change during their initial entry but didn't know i was expected to change it, and so didn't change it. the design of 1Password's user interface begs me to simply grab those miscategorized entries, drag them onto "Software" in the "VAULT" list, and drop them, thus instantly recategorizing them as the software registration records they are. all attempts to do this, however, fail; nothing is moved, copied, recategorized, nor otherwise affected in any way. and it is not reasonable to expect the user to go through 100 or more records - nor even one record, for that matter - manually copying and pasting the contents of each field from one record to the next, one at a time.

i have been waiting in vain for this functionality through two major releases now (and many more minor ones), and i know from other people's posts that i'm not alone. its inclusion seems forehead-smacking obvious to me - it should have been a feature of version 1.0 - and yet it is still not here. when will it be?? i've paid for this software and i really don't want to have to go find another package to store all my information in just because all my software serial numbers are listed as "logins" and i can't move them to "software" with any reasonable amount of effort. the longer this goes on, however, the less choice i seem to have.

I'm sorry that we haven't taken up this effort — no doubt it is inconvenient to you and others. While the request seems so obvious and do-able on the outside, the internal setup of each item is completely dependent on the category it is created under. There aren't just "generic" slots where we put the first, second and third value of every item type so taking the values of one vault item and moving them to another just isn't simply to do. The specific handling of each category is what gives us many of the capabilities we can provide for your items so that part is very unlikely to change.

Just as one example consider if you were the software: you have a Logins item with fields, values and settings... how would you imagine that to be copied to say a Secure Note? Or if you have a Secure Note with a Title and random field and value information in the Notes field: how could that be converted to a Logins item? To work properly, any such "migration" would have to be flawless and lossless and the solution would be complex.

Again, I'm sorry that we don't do this today. You asked "when will it be??" and our answer is that it's currently not something we're working on. That is not a statement that we will start the work someday, nor a statement that we won't provide something like this in the future.
