Custom shortcut conflicts with browsers [Solution: Use default shortcut or a different custom one]

My CMD+/ stopped working on all my browsers.

I am running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard - with 3.75 1Password Mac.

My 1P button and contextual all work fine.

I have tried tons of stuff from trying to change the shortcut in the preferences to anything available and nothing is working. I have no conflicts in system pref with my Keyboard mappings.

This is the same across all my browsers (safari, firefox, chrome)

I am not sure what else to do. Is this related to a recent OSX update?

Thanks

  • I just read through this post: http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/6688-cmd-keyboard-extension-not-working-in-firefox-5/ but nothing is related other than the shortcut not working.

I had already removed my entire FF5 profile... and no resolution. The issue spans more than just FireFox anyway.
  • Well I am completely confused... I just restarted AGAIN... re-assigned the SAME cmd/ to the autofill and quit everything AGAIN.. restarted and now it seems to stick. (For now)

I will let you know if I lose it again.

Try to use something other than CMD + / for your shortcut. Apparently this conflicts with Safari (though it did work before for me). I discovered this when my keyboard shortcuts wouldn't work either. I figured that although this may not have been the problem, it most likely didn't help anything to have two actions for the same keyboard shortcut.

I switched to option + ' and everything is working perfect with the latest versions of both the 1P application and extension.

    See here from Safari:

In FireFox, CMD + / controls the addon bar by default:

Again, I was never sure if this was the problem but I felt like it didn't hurt by moving away from using CMD + / since Safari/FF use it by default.

The default keyboard shortcut for Fill Login is Command-\ (backslash), so this is not a problem "out of the box". Only a custom shortcut of Command-/ (forward slash) will conflict. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

    I hope that helps.
