Master Password doesn't work in Safari

This is a tremendous frustration: I can unlock the application on my Mac, but the Safari extension, which has the very same password, will not recognize it as valid. Therefore the whole purpose of the extension is negated.

So much for automatic updates: this is terrible behavior from an application whose job is to make less work rather than more.

    Hi there,

Please try re-installing the Safari extension: Extension Data Does Not Match the Main Application

    Thanks.

  • I was having the same problem, and uninstalling and reinstalling the extension did the trick for me.
  • Thanks for letting us know, glad to hear a reinstall of the extension did the trick.

I'm having the opposite problem. 1Password Safari is not locking my access to 1Password. Even after I left the computer on overnight when I attempted to use 1Password it did not prompt me for the master password.

    Hi Patricia,

Can you please let us know what version of 1Password and also what version of the Safari extension you are using? In addition, please open 1Password and navigate to 1Password > Preferences > Security and make sure "never prompt for master password" is NOT checked.

    Thanks
