1Password on Win machine not sync

Hi to all.

I am facing a small problem with sync on windows machine.

I have 1Password for Mac and i choose Move to dropbox button and worked fine.

I installed 1Password on Win machine.

On Win i choose Move to dropbox, the path changes correctly but 1password application is empty.

My data are not there, tthey don't sync.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

George

P.S 1Password for Mac is family license, 1Password for Win is unregistered yet. Both up-to date

  • Hey there, George! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

It looks like you may have more than one keychain. The data file in Preferences > General is "1Password 2.agilekeychain". See if you have "1Password.agilekeychain" in your Dropbox folder or Documents and open it in 1Password (File > Open Data File) to see if it contains your data. Otherwise you can restore from a backup (Backup > Restore 1Password Data from Backup) and replace the current (empty) data folder. I hope this helps. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

George, clicking the Move to Dropbox button in 1Password for Windows is where you went wrong. That button doesn't say "use the data that's already in Dropbox" <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> It says "move the data I'm already using to Dropbox."

Moving your default (and possibly empty) data folder to Dropbox could have overwritten the one that Dropbox had sync'ed from your Mac. Instead, it looks like Windows or 1Password was smart enough to append the "2" to the root of the filename. You're still using that default data folder, though.

  • DBrown, I am having the same problem. I have been using 1Password on my iPhone for some time and LOVE it, and wanted to set up on Windows. I have tried your instructions and links as above multiple times today, and keep getting a message back from the iPhone synch that it cannot find the 1Password data in dropbox. I have my data folder for 1Password set up in my Dropbox folder, and it shows checkmarks demonstrating that it is synched. I have verified my Dropbox login info on the iPhone. I have totally shut down and re-started 1Password on my phone. Any more suggestions?
  • Welcome to the forum, Morgan.

There's a lot of useful information in the user's guide, including What if all my 1Password data is already on my iOS device? in the FAQ section.

I think you'll find that article useful.
  • Thank you guys. The problem was the "2" in save path. I correct it and sync just fine now.

What about if accidentally erase all data from 1 of my computers? On other computers what will happened?
  • Just to be clear, Amigdalos: It wasn't the "2" in the filename that was a problem. The "2" was there because you already had a 1Password.agilekeychain file when you clicked the Move to Dropbox button, so 1Password had to name the one it was moving 1Password 2.agilekeychain.

Deleting the "2" alone wouldn't change anything about that 1Password data folder.

What probably made the difference was switching to the existing 1Password.agilekeychain folder, which contained all the data you expected to see getting sync'ed from your other devices.

That's what I was trying to explain in my August 11 post, above.

    I hope that helps.
