"Never prompt for master password" and autosubmit not working

Hi,

I am no techi so I am probably overlooking something simple. I have two issues. Before the 5.1 I could turn on my computer, open safari and click on a bookmark and be logged in in seconds. The two issues I now have are....

1. The first time after power up that I visit a site from my list of 1password logins via my bookmark bar I am asked for my master password. I have the box checked that states never ask for master password. I also have selected keep unlocked (or something to that effect) in keychains. Once I have entered the master password it will not ask again until I shutdown and power up again.

2. Auto submit is not working. Once I have put in my master password or subsequent clicks on my bookmark (see issue 1) the auto fill is working but not submitting. I have to click on the login button on the site or hit enter.

I have gone though the faqs... Updated the extensions and believe I have done everything else I can think of including opting in for betas. These issues are on both of my macs. I have not used 1p on my iphone or ipad since the issue started (5.1) so I don't know if they are affected.

The site I need to get on for my job requires 3 entries; employee # and two separate passwords. I purchased 1password for the express purpose of getting on this site quickly. The site is ccs.coair.com (notice no www).

Please help,

Bill

Welcome to the forums BIll. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble. Let's see if we can't get these issues resolved for you. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Bill, the extension hasn't really changed with regard to the primary mode of interaction. As before, you can click the 1P button in Safari's toolbar and then select the Login for the site which you are currently viewing. Also, as before, if speed and efficiency are paramount, you can use the Command-\ keyboard shortcut to perform the same action. Similarly, Go & Fill works just as before (with the exception of support for folders in the new extension). Simply press Option-Command-\ on your keyboard, optionally begin typing the first few characters of the site you you wish to Go & Fill, and then select the Login you wish to Go & Fill.

With regard to item one, the "Never prompt for master password option is not yet supported in the new Safari 5.1 extension, so you will need to enter it once per session. To reduce the number of times you need to enter it, consider relaxing your Auto-Lock settings on the same preference pane in 1Password. Also, consider unchecking the two "Disable automatic unlocking…" options to enable Universal Unlock. This will keep the extension unlocked across a relaunch of Safari. It is not yet possible to keep Safari unlocked across a restart of your Mac, but we are working on restoring the "Never prompt for master password" functionality to the Safari 5.1 extension.

Regarding your second item, can you verify for me what versions of OS X, 1Password, and the Safari extension you are using? There were a couple issues with Go & Fill and autosubmit in previous versions, but they should be fixed now.

For the CCS Login, try saving a new one like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and select the "+" button in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Change the title and make any notes (if desired).

    4. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Cheers,
