Conflicting master passwords?
In testing 1Password to replace the OSX keychain, I've run into a bit of a problem.
At some point the Safari plugin stopped syncing with the main 1Password database - in other words, passwords added through Safari stopped appearing in the 1Password app.
In another post (sorry, I lost the link) it was recommended to remove the Safari 1Password extension and re-install. This did fix the syncing problem but at the expense of losing passwords that were only available through Safari. A couple significant concerns:
1) This would be a huge problem if I were solely using 1Password. How can I trust 1Password? I suppose I could double check the app each time I add a password, but that really isn't feasible.
2) Where is the database for the Safari extension? The "new" passwords survived Safari restarts and system reboots, but as mentioned were not available in the app. Can I trust password deletions? If multiple copies of my passwords are floating around, where are they? There should only be one datastore.
I'm using Version 3.7.2 (build 31099) on Lion.

I just opened an account and chose a master password. I then decided to change it to something more complex. That has worked fine in opening my account, but when I click on the 1P button, it will only accept the earlier master password, not the new one. Some of my recent generated passwords do not show up in my 1Password account, and I think it may be because I used the 1P button to create them. It feels like there are two separate accounts floating around, each with its own master password. What do I need to do to update the 1P button to match my master password?Flag 0

Hi there John,
Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I'm sorry for the trouble with this and for the delay in getting back to you. This was a bug in a previous release, where the app and the extension were not talking with each other properly. We fixed it in 3.7.5BETA-2 and that fix is included in the stable 3.7.5 release.
Unce updated, any un-synchronized data synched. One of my colleagues related this to having mail sitting in your outbox when you don't have an internet connection. Once the connection is re-established, the data is transferred.
From the release notes:
"Improved communication between 1PasswordAgent and Safari extension"
I hope that addresses your concern.
Thanks!

Hi Ben,
Thanks for your quick reply. I'm using the latest version of both 1Password and the Safari extension. I closed and reopened both of them, and my 1P button continues to tell me my master password is incorrect; it still accepts the old one. I'm using Safari 5.1 and Snow Leopard.Flag 0 -
