1Password Pro vs. 1Password for iPad and 1Password for iPhone separately

I have already purchased 1Password for iPhone a couple of years ago, and now want to purchase 1Password for my wife's iPad2.

Is there any advantage to pay the extra money and get the 1Password Pro, and use it on her iPad and my iPhone --- maybe extra features not available on the versions just for iPhone or iPad? Or would it be better to just get the iPad version?

Comments

  • No, there are no extra features in 1Password Pro over 1Password for iPad, the only real advantage would be in just having a single app to manage in iTunes.
  • So do I understand correctly that 1Password Pro is the app that allows installation on both the iPhone and iPad for a price of $14.99?
  • Hello todd4270 and welcome to the Forums!

    You understand correctly.

1Password Pro = 1Password for iPad + 1Password for iPhone. Buying 1P Pro is an opportunity to purchase both native apps for a discount off the price of buying each separately.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

    Cheers!

  • Hello, my "problem" relates to this topic so I simply add my question here. I already bought 1Password Pro for my iPhone. Today I received an iPad 2 and the first thing I did was to install 1Password, of course. Unfortunately I realised too late that I have a license already and just could have installed 1Password Pro. So I bought "1Password for iPad1" again for 8,00 € (to be honest, it's a little confusing).

So I'd like to know if there is any possibility to get a refund for this since I do not need "1Password for iPad" obviously. Is there any way?

Looking forward to your answer. Thank you

    Hendrik
  • I just accidentally bought your iPhone version. I thought it was the universal one. I then proceeded to buy the universal version not even ten minutes later. Is there any way to get a refund for the first purchase? It was an honest mistake and having like 3 different versions available was pretty confusing

Unfortunately the iTunes App Store is owned and managed by Apple so we are unable to refund your order; only Apple can. The official Apple policy is that all sales are final. I am not a fan of this myself, but it is really up to them. I encourage you to contact them and see if there is anything they can do for you, or at the very least let them know if you do not support this policy.

I am sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
  • Hi Esby,

thanks for your reply, as saddening as it may be. I think I save my time and simply consider the money as a donation to your work at agilebits (Though I don't grant Apple the extra fee). Do something useful with it <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Hi Hendrik,

Thank you for your kindness. I'd still recommend that you contact Apple. Apple is more likely to issue a refund when it's a clear mistake considering the multiple versions of the same app.

Regardless, please check your PM from me. We may be able to do something for you.

Thinking of getting the 1Password Pro app, but can someone explain how exactly at works? Sorry if this is too basic, but would be a completely new user.

So if I buy 1Password Pro through the app store on my iPhone, how do I get access to the ipad version? Is it just based on the fact that I use the same iTunes account, or is there a seperate link I go to download the ipad version. Or something totally different? Any insight would be helpful.

    Thanks!
  • Hi there,

I was just wondering: I got 1password pro as a birthday present and downloaded it into my iPod touch. Now, since it is the pro version, I want to know how to get the iPad version? I know the pro version covers the different platforms, but how do I do it?

    Thanks in advance,

    M.
  • Hey there, emcampbe! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I am sorry for the confusion. Ideally, we would like to have a single iOS app eventually, but we realize that some people only need iPad or iPhone, but not both.

1Password Pro is a single Universal app which means that it is designed to work natively on both the iPad and iPhone. In iTunes under Apps there are 3 categories (also on the Apps tab when managing your device): iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad Apps; iPhone and iPod touch Apps; and iPad Apps. The first category is the Universal apps that include a native interface for the smaller screens of iPhones and iPod touches as well as one designed for the iPad's larger screen. When you download 1Password Pro, it will be available to install on all of your iOS devices (so long as they are using the same Apple ID/iTunes account).

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Please see my post above. As long as you are using the same Apple ID/iTunes account on both devices, you can download it directly from the App Store or install it using iTunes when you sync. The same app will work for both.
