User Guide Loads Every Time I Launch Safari

This certainly shouldn't be happening under normal circumstances, nev, do you by any chance reset your Safari data before you quit?Flag 0

I have this same problem, and yes I do reset safari, empty cache, and remove 3rd party databases to protect my privacy.Flag 0

That's the problem, we use a HTML5 database for your 1Password data, so by clearing these settings the extension is starting over.
We're trying to find a workaround to this situation, but I can't promise if there is a solution to this non-standard usage of Safari.Flag 0 -
Sorry, maybe I phrased that wrongly, the vast majority of Safari users won't be doing this. What we've found is that if you uncheck the 'Remove all website data' option this shouldn't affect the 1Password extension.
As I said, we are looking at a way to workaround this, but this may be a limitation of nature of Safari extensions, and of course we do want new users to be able to see the guide on first launch.Flag 0 -
Thanks for your quick reply bwoodruff. It is possible to exclude domains in Netshred, but I didn´t have success right now. I excluded

Peter,
Is there any options to selectively 'shred' databases, because if there is you could exclude the 1Password database which should help too.Flag 0 -
Hey nev,
As mentioned above, if you stop deleting 1Password's database, you'll stop getting this. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
We've reported this to Apple as a bug ("Remove all website data should not also remove all extension data when resetting Safari") and hope they will fix this soon. In the mean time, the only work-around is to uncheck that box.
Sorry for the inconvenience. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

The extension's welcome tab will open if…
…you reset Safari before quitting it (Safari > Reset Safari). Right now, you can avoid the welcome tab by unchecking "Remove all website data" from the Reset Safari's options or avoid resetting Safari every time. Those options will stop the welcome tab from showing up every time for now.

…you use the default Lion setting of restoring an application's windows the next time it launches, which will remember the tabs you have opened. In this case, you can either close the welcome tab before quitting Safari, or quit Safari using "Command + Option + Q" instead of just "Command + Q". This will prevent the default Lion behavior of reloading open tabs the next time you start Safari.
I hope that helps. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />Flag 0 -
OK, but I want to remove all website data!
Understood. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
The bug is that Safari incorrectly removes extension data as well. This is not something AgileBits can resolve. We're waiting on a fix from Apple. We can argue about this all day and night, but I think everyone has said everything that can possibly be said about this. I'm going to close this thread now. Please see the solutions in my post above.Flag 0
