Extension is garbled when opened [Uninstall SIMBL]

Hi,

I cannot get past the 1P unlock screen. When I click 1P in Safari a drop down window appears with a lock and says "Enter Master Password To Unlock"

The screen is already repopulated with bullets (•••••••••), I can delete them, enter my master password, but when I hit return, absolutely nothing happens.

I unlocked my 1Password app first as well but that didn't make any difference, Safari 1P is dead in the water with that drop down lock window.

I have 1Password 3.7.2 running under OS X 10.7.

The Safari extension is 3.7b10.

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled 1password no less than a dozen times over the last few days, upgrading all the betas etc but this is where I'm stuck.

I also used the 1Password uninstaller to uninstall.

1Password DOES work in firefox.

The other piece of information is that on rare occasions, after clicking the 1P button in safari, a window would drop down with some icons on the left and the right pane would show a garbled

generated password and the text in the window was misaligned and not really readable.

Please help, as I do not know what else to do to get this working.

Thanks

  • Same problem here... I posted earlier today. Sorry, no solution from me, but I figure I might as well reply here so that it is clear this isn't an isolated problem.
  • I'm using 1Password 3.7.2 (extension 3.7b10) on Lion. I have Safari 5.1 set to open new pages and tabs with an empty page. When I have no Safari windows open and I hit the Go&Fill keys, a new window opens and the extension pops up showing a weird amalgam of a bunch of sections (image attached). It's intermittent - sometimes it happens, and sometimes no window opens.
  • Sorry, forgot to click the Attach button. Here's the screenshot.

    HI guys,

It sounds like you might have SIMBL plugin installed. Do you have anything like Wondershare’s AllTube/Youtube downloader? If yes, try uninstalling it with Wondershare’s uninstaller in the Wondershare folder (located in Applications folder).

If you don’t have Wondershare but you do use SIMBL or SafariSniffer.bundle, please remove it and see if it’ll work better. For more information and on how to do that, please read this topic at Apple Support forums.

I hope that helps, please let me know how it turns out.
  • Removed Wondershare’s AllTube/Youtube downloader and it finally works!

    Thanks!!!

I have no SIMBLs or other plug-ins installed, just a number of Safari extensions.
  • Hi kolpanic,

In theory other native Safari extensions should not conflict with 1Password or any other extension, since each one is sandboxed.

Can you make sure you're running the latest version of 1Password by going to 1Password > Check for Updates from within the main application. Then, to help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report.

Please send the file (don't copy and paste the contents, please) to support@agilebits.com and we'll take a look as quickly as we can and see what could be happening. Please DO NOT attach your report here.

AFAIK, I'm running the latest: 1Password 3.7.2 and extension 3.7b10. I turned off all Safari extensions except 1P and the problem still occurred.

I'll send the diagnostics report by email.

  • I Had experienced the same problems mentioned in this post. Finally, after uninstalling wondershare allmytube, 1Password appears to be working.

In another thread, it was recommended to removing scripting addition files out of the user library folder and the system library folder. My question is can these be put back or do they need to stay removed?

Can wondershare products and 1Password products not coexist, or only until wondershare updates it's products to better work with Lion?

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forums, jrnfl!

The AllMyTube add-on from Wondershare is one of the conflicting items on our radar. It includes a SIMBL module named SafariSniffer that is the actual culprit as far as we can tell (SafariSniffer actually changes the HTML that pages see, and that impacts the 1Password window as well). From my research, I don't believe that it is a Lion issue, but a Safari extension one in that they are disruptive to standard HTML coding that we rely on.

Each customer may have any number of items on their system that we're not yet familiar with in terms of conflicts, so "moving" them all to initially test your 1Password concerns is the easiest thing to recommend. Feel free to move them back into place if you feel they are important to you and if you determine that one does interfere in some way you can let us know the item's name (and origin if known) and we'll look into it.
  • More often than not I try to use the button/extention in safari to fill a login for a site, like this forum for example and all I get when I click the button in the Safari menu bar is a garbled graphic.

This of course is very frustrating... anyone else having this problem?

Is there a fix for this?

Sometimes if I go to another URL and then return by reloading the one I want to log into and click it a second or third time it will show up normal and I can use it to fill in the login info.

Usually I end up opening 1P application and copy and past from the login info from the main app window. Not much point in having a handy dandy button in my browser if it doesn't work.

I am current on all the latest "builds" and so far none of them have addressed this issue.

No I have NOT tried other browsers... I like Safari and loathe to use FireFox and just don't care for Google Chrome all that much.
