Changed master password, browser ext. still uses old one

Just updated my master password in the 1Password app. Tried to use this new one with the Safari browser extension but no dice - incorrect password. Previous master password works fine though. HELP!

  • Sorry for the trouble here, Ian, this should have been fixed with the latest version of the extension.

Can you make sure you have the latest stable version of 1Password, currently 3.7.5, by going to 1Password > Check for Updates from within 1Password itself. Then you'll need to go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions and uninstall the 1Password extension.

Finally, reinstall the latest version of the Safari extension by downloading this from our site.

This will make sure your master password is brought over to the Safari extension properly, and future changes should be synced without any issues.

Version 3.8.0.BETA-2 (build 31109) and 3.7 extension does not work.
  • I presume you uninstalled the extension completely? That should rebuild the database for the extension using your current master password.

Do you see any other error messages apart from the fact the password isn't being accepted?
  • Did that and everything seems to be working fine now.
  • Good to hear, I did mention the uninstall in my original post but on reflection I worded it badly so it probably didn't read right, my apologies on that.
