Hi
I just downloaded the latest version of 1password and the safari and firefox browser plugins but there are still a few bugs.
Firefox:
1. No 1Password (right click) context menu item (gone since FF 6 and not returned with latest plugin)
2. not possible to fill in htaccess passwords (was possible under snow leopard with context menu)
Safari
1. not possible to fill in htaccess passwords (was possible under snow leopard with context menu)
Thank you

Hi folks,
Neither Safari 5.1 nor Firefox 6 provide an API for us to interact with the HTTP basic auth windows. As such, we aren't able to support them natively in the browser anymore. The same is true for Chrome. We are working on a way to provide filling of these logins without the help of the browser, but I can't make any promises.

I just upgraded to Firefox 6, hesitantly. I had been using Firefox 4 with no problems. I visited the Agile site to make sure that 1Password would work with FF6 and the blog post said that it did. After upgrading, I can no longer save logins in FF6 with the 1PW plugin. When I use the pull-down menu and click the '+', nothing happens. If I just login and allow 1PW to auto-save a login, it does not. No menubar, nothing. So, now that I've wasted about 30min of my day with this update and still have no solution, what can I do short of uninstalling FF6 or manually entering every login?
Any help appreciated.

I don't blame 1Password for the breaks in Safari and Firefox - not sure why Apple and Mozilla would drop the APIs. But in any case, this poses a severe threat to 1Password's future if something isn't figured out quickly. The very handy utility, of which I depended on strongly for password storage, is becoming very limited in use now. Good luck, Agile! I'm pulling for you!Flag 0

Thanks JSH!
MRVOF, did you install the new extension? If you launch 1Password and select 1Password > Install Browser Extensions from the menu bar that should help.
AjEG, we are aware of the issue and there is a partial fix in the latest beta. We hope to have a full fix published soon. For now, logins can be saved from within Safari or the main 1Password application.
Thanks folks

Thanks for the update bwoodruff. I also noticed that 1PW does not seem to work on certain sites? For example, I tried to use 1PW to login to the Macworld.com forums and while it showed my password available in the list for that site, when I selected it nothing happened. Maybe that's related? I'll watch for your update and make due in the meantime.
Thanks again.

Hello Aj,
On behalf of Ben, you are very welcome!
Macworld uses javascript to create the popup window where you add your credentials. I have a macworld.com login too, and I was able to get 1Password to Fill the data after clicking the Log In menu item at the top of the screen. Once the popup box was visible, I was able to Fill my username and password using the Safari UI, or, more easily, by using the Cmd-\ shortcut.
I am running 1P 3.8.1 (build 31115) and Safari extension 3.8.1.b1. Please let us know if you are able to at least Fill using those versions.
Cheers!

Thanks Brandt (and Ben). I neglected to mention that I am using Firefox 6.0 with FF extension 1PW 3.8 running on OSX 10.6.8. Unfortunately, no, I was not able to get your methods to work under my conditions. Is this possibly just a matter of getting the FF extension up to the same level as the Safari one?Flag 0

Hello Aj,
Thanks for replying with the additional information.
I was able to replicate my macworld.com experience on Firefox running the following setup:

Mac OS X 10.7.1 (Lion)

Firefox 6 and Firefox 7

1Password 3.8.2 (build 31121)

1Password's Firefox6+ add-on 3.8.1.b7
As I am running Lion, our results may differ. However, please try macworld using the latest versions of 1P and the beta FF add-on. If you are still unable to Fill your login information after opening the Log In window, please let us know. There may be a SL/Lion issue we need to address.
Thanks for helping us troubleshoot this one.
Cheers!

Thanks for the followup Brandt. I updated 1PW to 3.8.2 (build 31121). I see that the FF6 add-on is 3.8.1, but the FF Addons page does not show more info than that, other than that it was updated as of 08.29.11 (today). I tried the MacWorld Forums login and it works better than before, 1PW enters the username. However, 1PW still does not enter the password. This update did fix another site I was having problems with (CampaignMonitor.com) and it now works completely. So, there is progress...
PS. I would think this new Firefox update schedule has got to be driving you guys crazy. I know it's driving me crazy, but the Addons are keeping me there for now (I also love the Tab groups, sorry to say I'm a tab-aholic).Flag 0 -
AjEG,
Could you try the latest Beta of the Firefox add-on by opening this link directly in Firefox.
If that fixed the Macworld issue for you that's great, if not let me know and I can do some more testing here for you.Flag 0 -
That's great to hear, I'm glad we're making progress, there's a lot more improvements to come as well.Flag 0
