BUG : Smart Folders not working in French localization

First off my config :

Material : MacBook Pro 13" (early 2011)

OS : OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11c40)

Language : French

1 Password : 3.8.1 (31115)



Today I decided to reorganize my data and get rid of folders to replace them by Tags and Smart Folders. Here's the issue :





For the search criteria of a smart folder, you can set "[b]All[/b]", "[b]Any[/b]" or "[b]None[/b]" of the following match, at least with the language set to english. However running 1Password in French you're only offered "[b]TOUS[/b]" et "[b]AUCUNE[/b]". Even more confusing, [b]TOUS[/b] means [b]ALL[/b], however does react like [b]ANY.[/b]



So, supposing we are talking about search criteria (in french "critères", masculine) I would suggest the following :



[b]Aucun[/b] des suivants [u]est vrai[/u] for [b]NONE[/b] (rather than [b]AUCUN[u]E[/u][/b])



[b]L'un[/b] des suivants [u]est vrai[/u] for [b]ANY[/b]



[b]TOUS[/b] [u]les[/u] suivants sont vrais for [b]ALL[/b]

Hi,



ok as I needed the smart folder functionality rather badly, I updated one of the localization files of the French translation. It now works.



However, french localization needs some work.

Thanks for the feedback lume96, and welcome to the forums. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> We're are likely planning on doing full blown localizations of 1Password at some point in the future but things aren't set in stone yet so I don't have any details beyond that. Right now things may be a bit rough around the edges, translation wise. I'll let our developers know about this one.

Hi,

I'm sorry to bring this up once more, but after having purchased 1Password in August 2009 I thought it was ok to invest another 15€ to get the Mac AppStore version as I really like this soft and use it on daily bases (also on iPhone and iPad).



Unfortunately the App Store version presents exactly the same issue I described above.



I do understand that localization can be hard and time-taking (I'm doing some french software localization myself from time to time), but please be aware that this particular issue is [b]NOT just "cosmetic"[/b]. [u][b]It just breaks the whole Smart Folder functionality[/b][/u] as one is not able to create / edit rules correctly.



Being on the App Store surely will give you more opportunities to sell the software on an international bases and while one can ignore / live with some approximate translation here and there, THIS particular issue should really be taken care off asap.

You are indeed correct that 1Password's presence in the MAS means that we need more and better localizations. Including a fix for this bug. I can't promise you when we will get this fixed, but there will be increased effort on localization now that we have the MAS version up and running.
