Where is the 1Password Bar?

I downloaded 1Password 3, read the instructions, downloaded and installed the Safari extension, and following the instructions on this page:

http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/3_minute_expert_new.html

I went to a secure web site as follows:

1. Visit a site, enter your credentials, and login

Did that.

2. Use the 1Password Bar to save your Login in 1Password

Where is it? There is no 1Password Bar at the top of my browser. There is the 1P button but it doesn't do anything other than open a blank window with the title: Logins for this page.

  • Sorry for the confusion here, we need to update the '3 Minute Expert' guides once we're done transitioning to our new extensions. The new Safari extension doesn't have the same 1Password bar, this isn't possible anymore, but you can still save Logins as we detail here:

    I hope that helps,
  • I went to the page quoted above and it still refers to the 1Password bar. Here is a sample of the page:

How To: Save a 1Password Login

If you already have a username and password for a site, it’s really easy to add your credentials to 1Password for safe keeping. From now on, 1Password can automatically and securely fill your usernames and passwords in for you!

     1. Visit a site, enter your credentials, and login

So far so good, right? Now look at the top of your browser, because the 1Password Bar should appear for the next step.

     2. Use the 1Password Bar to save your Login in 1Password

Just click Save and you’re done! Optionally, you can customize the Login’s name.

I'm not sure that I can use this application. I've been using computers (mainframes, pc's) for 25 years and your application makes me feel stupid.

Sorry for the confusion ralphjh, please scroll down on that page to the part titled How To: Manually save a Login
  • I am using OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and have no plans to update to Lion for some time. Could I downgrade 1Password to version 3.5 and, if so, will the 1Password bar become available or is it strictly a Safari thing?
  • It's related to Safari 5.1, which all Snow Leopard users will be using if you've updated your system properly.

Safari 5.1 removes support for our old method of integration with Safari, and hence the old auto-save bar. We're currently working on a new way for auto-save to work and we hope to have this available soon.
