Username in title feature seems to be gone

There was previously a feature that would automatically add the username to the title of the entry. This was very important for those of us with multiple sets of credentials for one site. Please help.

    Hi youandus,

    Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

We did indeed change the default title when saving a new login, at the request of our users. Many felt that it was a security risk to store the username in the title by default, when the title is unencrypted. We agreed, so we changed the default. It is still possible to change the title to whatever you'd like.

    Thanks

Previously it was an option that you could turn off or on. Why couldn't you just leave it that way?

In fact, the screenshot of the way it used to be is still on your website.

We appreciate the feedback, and we almost never say never. If there is enough demand for this, I could see adding it back. We really try to keep preferences and settings to a minimum though to avoid confusion. Computing is difficult enough for a lot of people without having to figure out what a bunch of preferences mean. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
  • I understand your point but I would say that most 1Password users are fairly adept people and could handle the choice. It could also be a feature that is turned off by default and tucked away on some advanced preferences page. I hope that you can bring it back and I also hope this is not a sign of 1Password getting dumbed down.
  • We won't say it's not coming back, nor or are we by any means trying to dumb down 1Password. At the moment the feature isn't present in our new browser extensions and so to avoid confusion we removed it from the preferences within 1Password itself.

We have a great list of features people would like to see in the new extension and we'll take every one into consideration but at the same time we do need to focus on core functionality.
  • I really miss this feature that I paid for and has been taken away from me!
  • Taken away may be the wrong way to look at it, the browser extensions have been rebuilt from the ground up across Firefox, Safari and Chrome and so it makes sense to adjust 1Password to the new extensions.

As I said, we may well bring this feature back, but I just can't make any promises as to when this may be.
