1passwd in firefox 6

I'm having serious problems with the new 1pwd extension for firefox. It won't fill out any identity files. In fact, when I tried to find some answers on the agile website, I learned that email support was no longer recognized, and had to go to the forums. Nice touch. So I go there, and of course I'm asked for my credentials before I can post anything. Invoking the 1P login doesn't do it. The agile server says it's incorrect. I cannot create a new account because my email address is already in use. I mean, the software that's supposed to keep all my logins cannot even log me into its mother site? After manually going through 1P logins, I finally find there is a second login for 1P, and am able to post this. It was not in the list of options for this site... Apologies for ranting.

    Hi Gerard,

We recently changed our name (from Agile Web Solutions/agile.ws to AgileBits/agilebits.com) which is likely why you had some difficulty finding the login. My apologies for the inconvenience.

A few others have reported issues with identities in Firefox 6. I personally have been able to reproduce the issue and so I'm passing it on to our developers for further investigation.

Please keep an eye out for updates.

    Thanks

    Ben
  • I updated my master password on 1Password. It works fine when I open the app from the Dock but when the browser extension "1P" icon asks me for my password only the older password works. So 1Password requires 2 passwords to use.

I'm using FF 6.0, 1PW 3.8.1 on OS X 10.6.8 macbook pro. I've updated the 1Password master password about 6 times now and it never seems to get to the browser extension.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

    Hi Kyle,

You do not need to remember the two passwords. This is a known issue with the new extensions, it does not sync the new master passwords yet, we're working on fixing this.

To fix this, please reinstall the extension which will remove the database in Firefox that holds the previous master password. Open Firefox and go to Tools > Addons > Extensions. Select 1Password on the list and then press the "Remove" button.

After that, open this page in Firefox to install the extension again:

    I hope that helps.
  • I am having problems with both Identities (totally unusable) as well as finding 1Password no longer saves new logins automatically. I would also like to have the toolbar brought back again. using firefox 6 extension on lion Mac OS.

Oh GOD how I regret upgrading to Firefox 6 (and Safari 5)

The new look and feel of 1password is laggy and slows down workflow concidably. Autosubmit selldom works and it does not at all seem to recognize the loginform at Lynda.com.

    Please wind back time!

    Hi Time Starved,

Welcome to the forums. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> The problem with identities has been passed on to our developers who are investigating. Firefox 6 does not currently have auto-save but you should be able to manually save a login like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and select the "+" button in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Change the title and make any notes (if desired).

    4. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner.

    Hi David,

Please see my advice to Time Starved above about manually saving logins. Please give that a try on the website in question.

I am back at Firefox5 and 1password 3.5.13 and very relieved the downgrade went so smooth!

Safari is lost. I will not be able to log in to a vast number of sites as long as you keep feeding us these kinds of surprisegrades. I loved your application and service. You had my trust. Now I dont know what to think.

I have to uncheck every upgrade notification.

Surpricing you users forcing us out of our well tuned workflows is not into completely up-side-down halfbaked and redesigned UI is NOT doing our relation any good.

What happened? Where are you heading with this?

/regards David S, Sweden, pretty concerned.

    Hi Ben.

I got no notification on your reply so I cried out after having successfully (I hope) downgraded 1password and Firefox. Instead of a long list of tweaky steps I want my tool back. The new extensions are horrible, laggy and unpredictable.

In 1password I had a reliable everyday tool. Upgrading made it a freaking quizshow. Downgrading I have a crippled version of my once so trustworthy tool, and this is where this circus has left me right now.

Please tell me something comforting about the future of 1Password!

    Hello David,

I hope you don't mind, but I merged your two posts in the same thread.

You are not alone in your frustration over the new JSE based UIs that are becoming to dominate the browser landscape. I also was not a fan at first, and I still miss the functionalities allowed by ScriptingAdditions, but prohibited with JSE.

The decision to change the UI was not made in an attempt to "top" our previous success. The change was mandated by the new browser integration rules put forth by Safari and Firefox 6. Chrome has had many of these rules since the beginning, which the primary reason why the Chrome UI has looked that way from inception.

You may find the following post by Agile's Stu to be informative. He explains why we had to move in a different direction, and what has happened to a lot of the functionality that is different or missing from our most recent releases: Firefox 1P add-on changes FF 5 > FF 6

  • I am another user who is unable to use the fill identity feature after upgrading to Firefox 6. I hope this bug fix is a top priority.

    Thanks
