I changed my password for my main app using the Dock to access the app, then when asked in the browser to unlock 1Password and after using the correct password, the password was rejected.

I tried many times over the last few days, but always the same. I log in and out of the main app no problem, just no luck on Safari.

I don't know why 1Password must appear in the browser as a locked mini vault. It defeats the point of not having to type a password. 1Password is supposed to provide the password with one click of the mouse. Now it always requires a password even though the main app is already unlocked.

Guess I also have the same problem as others. I am informed by 1Password that it is somewhat overwhelmed and the email support is suspended. That's tough and I am truly sorry as 1password provides an excellent service.

Let's hope things return to normal soon. I can wait, but I do want this problem looked at eventually.

    Hi folks,

If the extension data (including Master Password) doesn't match the main app, please follow these steps: Extension Data Does Not Match the Main Application

gilli2, welcome to the forums. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> We can still provide email support when necessary, but I guarantee an answer will come quicker here. Plus, many of the questions people are asking are already answered elsewhere within these forums. It sounds like you do not have universal unlock enabled. This can be enabled from within the Safari extension under 1P > Settings (gears icon) > Enable Universal Unlock. This will cause the extension and the app to unlock and lock together.

What about my issue? I use Firefox and I have the same problem! "Universal unlock" is enabled!

Please provide a solution for this problem, this really sucks!

    Best regards!

I also have the same problem. Firefox 6, 1Password 3.8.1, Snow Leopard 6.8

I have executed the instructions that you say to do twice now with no luck. It is almost as if I have 2 copies of 1Password running.

    Hi Effeklabor,

Which issue are you referring to? Did you follow Ben's instruction on reinstalling the extension for Firefox? At the moment, each time you change the master password in the main 1Password app, you'd have to reinstall the extension in the browser to make it use the new master password. We're working on fixing this so that you don't need to do this but I do not have a timeframe.

If you're referring to the master password prompt, the new extensions do not support the 'never prompt for master password'. You'll have to at least enter the master password once, either in the extension or the main 1Password app. This is done in order to ensure your extension data has all of your user data fully encrypted. We're investigating a way to bring back the 'never prompt for master password' but I do not have a timeframe on this. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Done this several times. It does not work. Please read all of the posts before posting an answer that was already said to not work.

    Hello Tomnbelize,

There were earlier problems with previous the 1Password Firefox6+ add-on that caused problems with the syncing of data from the 1Password application to the add-on. Changes made in either the application or the add-on did not sync back and forth. Consequently, saved entries and/or Master Password edits were not updated.

We were able to fix the saved logins sync issue, but the Master Password sync issue is still unresolved as of this writing. However, we are aware of the bug, and our developers are analyzing the problem now.

I hope we are able to announce a fix soon, and I appreciate your patience in the interim.

    Cheers!

  • I have reinstalled the 1Password plugin for Firefox several times but it doesn't work. I also followed all your other instructions!

    What should I do now?
  • Hello effektlabor,

If you are referring to your original post regarding having to type in your Master Password each time, this is a known issue.

The following is taken from our FAQs and Known Issues with our new Browser Extensions topic in the 1Password for Mac Browser Extensions Forum.
After updating the master password in 1Password app, the extension doesn't get updated with it, requiring me to use the old password instead.

This is a known limitation and we're working on fixing this as soon as possible. To resolve this, please reinstall the extension. First, remove the extension from the browser and then use the extensions install site to install it again.
I am sorry that we do not yet have a resolution for your issue.

    Regards,

    Brandt
  • BUT it doesn't work, even if I REINSTALL the Extension!

Is there a solution or not?

    Hi Benno,

    Please try this.

Open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder. Paste in this path and hit enter/return:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/

Inside that folder you should see a file called OnePassword.sqlite. Delete that file. Now try it.

    Thanks

    Ben
  • That worked! Thank you very much.

Nearly one month to solve that problem... wow...

    Best regards!

Sorry for the trouble, effektlabor! I seems that it was mistakenly assumed that you had tried the instructions from this similar thread created shortly before your original post (~4 hours), and that this was not working for you either. I am glad it is working for you now! Thanks for updating the thread! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
