1Password not working with iStockphoto.com

Hi everybody,

just noticed that 1PW 3.8.1 with FF6 and extension 3.8 does not work for iStockphoto.com. The username is written to the search field on the page behind the login foreground. I have no idea where my password goes.

As I also stated in another thread: 1PW entering my data into seemingly random fields on a webpage is a no-go for me. I'd rather have 1PW not working at all instead of inputting my data in wrong fields. Just think of web pages showing the last search terms entered including my login and password. Ugly as hell!

Sorry for this rant, but the new extension is a huge step backwards for me - I don't complain about functionality not working (like HTTP Auth), but I do complain about AgileBits playing with my confidential data. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />

    Hi Arno,

We're constantly working to improve form filling, and unfortunately sometimes when we fix one site, it breaks another. Have you tried re-saving the form?

Please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and select the "+" button in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Change the title and make any notes (if desired).

    4. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner.

    Thanks

    Hi Ben,

thanks a lot, that worked. Apparently the login pop-up is being served from a different server than the main site (secure-deutsch.istockphoto.com instead of deutsch.istockphoto.com).

Only thing is that "Go & Fill" doesn't work with that configuration. But that's not a big deal for me.

Can you please give me some indication why 1PW filled in the search field in first place (see my post above)? I thought that 1PW would check the field names which have been saved along with the username and password. And there is no field called "loginName" in the main page. The search field doesn't even have a name. Looks like the field name check fails for fields which don't have a name.

    Cheers

    Hi Amo,

It does. When 1Password doesn't locate any fields that match the names (for an example, user asking 1Password to fill when they're already logged in), it attempts to fill in the user name in the first open field and then locate the second password-marked field. It will never fill the password if there are no password fields.

We have about 7 conditions that we do first before we resort to the last one with the open fields.
  • Hey Mike,

I invited you to a PM conversation where I posted a video which shows the problem with iStockphoto, where the username is entered twice. Once in the login dialogue and once in the search field which is behind the login page (which is a popover).

Thanks, Arno. I see exactly what you mean. I have passed this URL along to our developers for them to look at. In the meantime, it sounds like the Login is working well despite the username being placed in the search field. The Login form should be the only one being submitted. The search form should not be submitted.

If we can be further assistance, please let us know.
