Install 1Password on second hard drive: How access 1P data with new installation?
in Mac
Hi, I have Snow Leopard installed on two hard drives. One hard drive is my normal work drive. The other Drive is basically a pristine install that I can use for troubleshooting or a quick backup in case of trouble on my work hard drive. I just installed Lion on this second hard drive so I can get familiar with it and wait for the bugs to be worked out before I install it on my work hard drive. I would like to install 1Password on this second hard drive to be able to use all my stored passwords. Could you tell me the right way to import or copy all my password data?
Thanks, John
Thanks, John

Hello John and welcome to the Forums!
If you are using Dropbox, you can just install your second copy of 1Password on your Lion drive and follow the steps listed in our Dropbox setup help guide: 1P & Dropbox: Connecting Other Macs
If you are not using Dropbox, and/or you do not wish to use the application, you can gain access to all of your current passwords by just copying your 1Password data file, the 1Password.agilekeychain, from your SL drive to your Lion drive. The keychain file's location can be found on the General tab in 1Password > Preferences.
Once you've copied the keychain, just double-click on it, and the Lion drive 1Password application will have access to your data.
Please note that unless you use Dropbox, your separate SL and Lion 1Password data files will not be synchronized.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Cheers!

Thank you Brandt, I have one more question. If I were to download the Lion only app from the App store, would I need to delete the older version of 1 Password? Of course I would have to import all my passwords from the older 1 Password first. Thanks for the Mac support. I think 1 Password is one great application.
