1Password and EFTPS.gov?

Are there any known issues with using 1Password with the EFTPS.gov (Electronic Federal Tax Payment System) website?

As one who moonlights occasionally as a freelance web developer, I use the site every few months to make quarterly tax payments to the IRS.

The login process requires five fields on one page: three for each SSN segment (e.g. 555 then 66 then 7777), one for a PIN (e.g. 8888) and, finally, the standard password field.

After a bit of experimentation, I was able to get 1Password to successfully populate all five fields. However, clicking the login button results in a Login Unsuccessful error message. If I manually enter the password, my login is accepted.

How long is the password you have for eftps.gov?

    I had a similar problem with https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/

In my case the password generated and filled by 1Password was longer than they accepted.

With copy/paste the value was truncated and everything worked.
  • Ah, yes... that was it. The EFTPS site requires a password between 8 and 12 characters in length, mine was 14 characters long.

Many many thanks! Not just for the massively quick response but for all the care and attention to detail that has gone into 1Password.
