1Password missing the Sync on my MacBook Pro

Hi there,

I purchased 1Password 3 for Mac (Single User License) a couple of days ago, got it installed on my iMac and it sync wonderfully with my iphone and ipad (both using 1Password Pro). I had 1Password downloaded on my second device - MacBook Pro, using the same license key I bought for my iMac, the registration process went smooth with "Your Copy Of License is Registered!" but when I ran 1Password on my Macbook Pro, it lacked the "sync" function for me to sync this with my iMac, acted just like a Trial version.

Did I do anything wrong during the registration process or the license is solely limited to 1 single mac device (as this is contrary to Sane Licensing Policy)?

Please help.

Thanks

Teh

In order to sync two computers, you'll need Dropbox.

Have you tried using Dropbox to sync your 1Password data? This is the recommended way to sync. It is secure, automatic, and happens in the cloud so your devices no longer need to be on the same wifi network in order to sync!

Please see this help guide for more details:

  • Ben,

I have the same issue except i only have one copy of 1Password installed on my macbook pro. I had the trial going until it expired and then I bought the license. I'm trying to sync with my iphone and I don't even have a sync option anywhere. What am I missing? 1Password version 3.8.2.

    Hi Andrew,

Please see above for instructions on setting up syncing.
  • Ben,

I'm not sure I was completely clear with my first post so forgive me. Regardless of sync method, my installation of 1Password doesn't even show the sync option. It doesn't exist on the toolbar or on the side menu. I'm thinking it's some kind of setting under the hood that is turned off that I need to enable. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall 1Password?

    Thanks,

  • I just uninstalled and reinstalled 1Password and I still don't have a SYNC option. Is this a license issue? bug????
  • Got it working, thanks. For those who run into this same issue, the SYNC option doesn't appear until you move your 1Password.agilekeychain data file from the default location to your dropbox folder through the 1Password General preferences. This is what was confusing for me.
  • Hey ahenk,

Thanks for updating the thread with your solution! I'm glad you are up and running again.

    Cheers!
