Dropbox resyncing and Safari 5.1

I have been using 1Password with great success for quite a few years now. I really enjoy the program. However, with the advent of Dropbox syncing and the new Safari 5.1 plugin, I'm having problems. I really like the new plugin. It works like a charm on my MacBook. However, on my Mac Mini, I can't seem to get anything to work. Everytime I open 1Pasword the window pops up asking if I want to use the data file in Dropbox. That only happened once on my laptop. Also, the extension constantly says "Unknown Error" and asks me to restart Safari. I've tried every combination of opening programs, reinstalling both the app and the plugin and reinstalling Safari. Nothing has worked. Please help me!

Hi Nicholas, welcome to the forums!

I moved your thread to the 1Password for Mac forum since the Lounge forum is for anything not related to 1Password or Knox.

When you open the 1Password app, did you tell 1Password to select the data file in Dropbox? What happened afterward, did it open the data file or was there an error? Does 1Password still work correctly on your Macbook? Please make sure that Dropbox on both Macs have a green checkmark on the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, this indicates that Dropbox is running and all files has been synced.

If there is no data file loaded in the 1Password app, you'll see the error in the extension because it is trying to grab the data from your 1Password app and without it, it won't work.

The extension and the app are not likely to be at fault here, it is the issue of trying to load the data file, which explains why reinstalling both doesn't fix the issue.

Please let us know about the situation after telling 1Password to select the data file in Dropbox.

Yes, I've done all of that. 1Password works great on my MacBook. No problems.

1Password on my Mac Mini works great as well. However, it reloads the Dropbox file each time I startup the program with the two dialog boxes that say,

"I have found a data file in this folder:

    /Users/gorndogmini/Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain"

    then,

"Please make sure that the Dropbox icon in your menu bar at the top of your screen is not spinning (it animates while syncing).

Click the icon and make sure that "All files up to date" is displayed in the Dropbox menu.

If you do not see the Dropbox icon, please make sure Dropbox application is started."

I always make sure that Dropbox is updated with the green check mark and click yes. However, once that has all loaded, I still can't get the browser extension to load properly. It gives me the "Unknown Error" red button.

The application itself seems to never quite get that Dropbox syncing has been enabled and verified a miliion times; like it is stuck in an endless loop.

    Hello gnome,

Based on your reply, we suspect that there may be a permissions issue. To help us track down the problem more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report?

To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email addressed to support@agilebits.com.

Please include a link to this thread in your email message so that we can "connect the dots."

In addition, please open the Terminal application, type the following commands, and send us the output for each:

    ls -lade ~/Library/Preferences/

    ls -lae ~/Library/Preferences/ws.agile.1Password.plist

    ls -lade ~/Dropbox/

Thank you for taking the time to send us the Diagnostics Report and the Terminal output. We are as anxious to resolve this problem as you are. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Cheers!
