Knox Vault not created - error 16

Hi,

we are getting an error 16 when creating a knox vault. Is this an OS error or a Knox error? Using 10.6.3 and eSATA/FW400 connections. The end of the error says the Vault was created but couldn't create custom icon?

Thanks

Hello jniford, and welcome to the forums!

Error 16 is an internal Knox error code that is reported when the hdiutil command fails to create a new image. Could you post the error that you saw? Perhaps it will give me a better idea of what is happening.

Couple of questions unless AgileWS steps in knowing exactly what is wrong:

    1) Can you create a different vault with different name without space? Like "thisworks".

    2) What file system is the external drive partition?

    3) Can you go to Disk Utility and create a sparse bundle on that drive without any errors?

    4) Does the Console.app show any errors regarding to sparse bundle creation?

To diagnose this issue I will need to see some of your log files to see what's happening. Please reply to this email and attach this file:

    Home > Library > Logs > Knox > Knox.log

For some users this file doesn't exist so don't be alarmed if that's your situation as well.

Also, as Mikhail said, there could be errors in your Console so I'll need to see those too. You can get these logs as follows:

    1. Launch Console, found in the /Applications/Utilities folder.

    2. Click the "Clear Display" button on the toolbar.

    3. Launch Knox and reproduce the problem. Then wait 15 seconds to let the Console refresh.

    4. Press CMD-A to select all the logs and CMD-C to copy them to your clipboard.

    5. After starting a reply to this email, press CMD-V to paste the logs.

Could you please send the logs to us at support@agile.ws using Mail.

Please include a link to this thread in your email message so that we can 'connect the dots'.

    Thanks!
