A Question before changing my Master Password

Macrina
edited September 2011 in Mac
I think I understand how to change my Master Password, but I don't know if changing it will interfere with the Dropbox sync to my iPod Touch. What I'm asking is: will the new password get automatically changed in the Dropbox configuration?

Everything is working well right now and I don't want that to change. But I do need the new Master Password, as I determined that the one I have set is not secure enough.

Please forgive if this is a dumb question; I'm just not very high tech in my understanding. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

ETA: I am running Snow Leopard, Safari 5.1, 1P 3.8.2 (build 31121) and I think I have the latest version of the browser extension but am not certain: where do I look for that info? It doesn't seem to say anywhere in the extension itself...

OK, I found out how to know which version of extension I have. I now have 3.8.2, because I just installed it. Earlier I'd checked the box enabling the automatic update of the extension, but this had not occurred for some reason; what I saw listed was 3.7.1

I DO still need my earlier question answered, please, about changing Master Password.

Now that I know the Master Password I have is not very strong or secure it worries me that it will get hacked.

    Hi Macrina,

I'm very sorry for the delay in answering you on this, I could have swore I already wrote a reply here!

The change will force you to re-setup Dropbox syncing on your iOS device. This is pretty quick and painless and is the exact same procedure you followed to set it up initially. The only difference is you don't have to do the computer portion of the setup.

Please see this help guide for more details:

If you run into trouble please feel free to write back.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks, Ben. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The first time I set up the syncing on my iPod Touch, I had a fairly confusing time of it for some reason, but somehow finally did the correct thing. So here's hopin' I get it right, and sooner than last time.

So once again thank you for your assistance!

  • Thanks Brenty. I actually haven't made the change yet; little case of Cold Feet, but soon I'll get it done.

It'll have to be a time in which, should something go horribly wrong, I'd have the time right then to get it all resolved.

You know, the blood, sweat & tears syndrome. Lol.
  • Hey Macrina,

On behalf of Brent, you are most welcome!

I live through the blood, sweat and tears syndrome every day. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
