1Password not loading or possibly unloading itself in Firefox 6 [Resolved with 1P 3.8.3]

I'm having a problem that was reported (and worked around) for FF5, but I'm using FF6 - the work around in that case does not apply. See http://forum.agilebits.com/index.php?/topic/6818-firefox-keyboard-shortcut-problems/

Basically, 1Password is either sometimes not loading, or it is loading and later crashing - I'm not sure which. Regardless, what ends up happening is I suddenly find that the Command-\ shortcut isn't working, and the 1P button is not present in my toolbar. The only way to get the shortcut and button back is to shut down Firefox and reload it. The following message appears in my system.log:

Sep 2 12:02:15 Softwolf 1PasswordAgent[513]: Failed to send 'activate' to 'org.mozilla.firefox', client not connected

This is occurring with FF 6.0.1 and 1Password 3.8.2 on Lion 10.7.1

My suspicion is that Firefox is restarted without 1Password when FF crashes, but I can't confirm this yet.

    Hi wolfypdx,

Which is crashing, the 1Password extension or the Firefox browser? What happens when it crashed?

Please try to reinstall the Firefox extension to make sure that you're using the latest stable version of Firefox. First update 1Password by opening the 1Password app and go to the 1Password Menu > Check for Update.

After that, open Firefox and go to Tools > Addons > Extensions. Right click on the 1Password extension to remove it. Now, open the following page in Firefox:

    1Password extension for Firefox 6

I hope that helps, please let me know how it turns out.
  • I haven't seen this problem since updating to 1P 3.8.3 (and haven't seen any Firefox crashes either since then).
  • Hey wolfpdx,

Thanks for updating the thread! I'm glad the issue appears resolved for you.

    Cheers!
