How to import iphone backup into Windows

Hi Support,

Until a few days I had my passwords on my iPhone and iPod touch until both broke. I have backups for my passwords (*.ptbackup) which I like to import in my Windows-version of 1password. How can I do this?

Thank in advance,

Stefan

    Welcome to the forum, Stefan!

You can't import a 1Password for iOS backup file into 1Password for Windows (or vice versa).

You'll need an iOS device with 1Password installed, in which you'll restore your backed-up data:

On the iOS device, launch and unlock the 1Password app, and tap More > Settings > Database > Backup & Restore.

You should see a page titled "Backup Service Started".

On the Mac or PC where the backup file was stored, launch a web browser, and go to either of the URLs listed on the iOS device screen.

Click the Browse button, find the .1ptbackup file in the location where you saved it, and click the Restore button.
Then you'll sync the data in the 1Password app on that iOS device with 1Password for Windows following the instructions in What if all my 1Password data is already on my iOS device? under the heading "Backing Up & Sync'ing" in the FAQ section of the user's guide.
  • Thanks for the quick answer, though:

Does that mean because my iOS-device broke down there is no way that I can recover my passwords even though I have a backup file? I just bought an Android device and I wanted to move everything over.

What you are saying is that because my IOS-device is damaged there is no way to recover the passwords, right? Even if I had someone else who owns an iOS-device, I could not install 1password there because it has been bought on my account, right?
