Version 3.8.3 (build 31131) Safari Version 5.1 (6534.50) MAC OS X 10.6.8

I should have posted this a long time ago. Sometime in the past three months or so my interface with 1Password changed its look and action. Previously, whenever 1Password came up, I would see the entire, colorful screen with all the available features on the left side and the hundreds of sites I had in 1Password, down the middle of the page, If necessary, I could click on a Website and see whatever information was available on the bottom of the page.

Then, all of a sudden, when I clicked on the icon in the Safari browser, a small gray screen came up with just the site I was on at the moment. I guess this would be OK, except that is all it does. No longer are user names and passwords filled in automatically and if I try to click on what I guess is the place to get the application to fill in the User Name and Password, I might be lucky and see Fill In. If I click that, sometimes it fills in the correct name and password.

Often, however, I have to see what the user name and password are, and put them in manually. Also, I have 1Password in my dock at the bottom of the screen. When I click that, the familiar colorful screen comes up, but trying to fill in the user names and passwords usually doesn't work. I have to manually put them in. At other times, either using the browser icon or the icon in the dock, the wrong information is entered into the Webpage I am working on.

Well, I wonder if I missed some announcement or did something to cause all this, but I have not found an answer in HELP or Forums that seems to fit my situation, so I am asking here, as 1Password requested.

I've used 1Password for a long time and admittedly bumbled along when things did not work the way they were supposed to, but now the hassle is just too much. I want to be sure to get this right, because I also have 1Password on my PC and iPhone.

Someday, as well, I probably will be updating the OS on the PC and the MAC, but want this very important application to work right first.

Sorry, I could not describe this in a short version, but I am really confused by the odd behavior.

Thanks in advance to anyone who will help me out here.

I am sorry for the confusion. It sounds like you are still getting used to the new Safari 5.1 extension, which was released back in July to coincide with the new browser version. It sounds as if initially you are describing the main 1Password application window, and then the browser extension window in Safari, which makes me think you are having trouble as a result of a bug we are aware of.

Currently on Snow Leopard double-clicking a Login item (or clicking the arrow next to the Location field) to Go & Fill using Safari only works if Safari is already running. We are aware of this limitation and are looking into a fix. In the mean time, you can either do this from 1Password with Safari already running, or from within the Safari extension itself. Just press ⌘⌥\ (Command+Option+Backslash) to open All Logins, type to search for the desired Login item, and then press Return to have 1Password open a new window with that location and Fill & Submit the login form.

I hope this helps. I know it is difficult getting used to something new. If you have any other questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask. We are always here to help! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
