New to 1Password for iPad - question
in iOS
Hello,
I went through the tutorial and back about 7 pages on this forum looking for this answer. The majority of my favorite websites also have apps these days and so I have the app on my iPad and have no need to visit the site. Does 1Password populate the name and id for these apps? For example, if I try to launch Crackle from within 1Password it is launching the Crackle web page (as this is what it obtained from syncing with my pc). How do I get it to populate the info into the app and not the web page?
Thanks.

Hey there, Randomizer! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Unfortunately it is not possible at this time for apps to interact due to the security model iOS uses. Apple may change this in the future, but for now we cannot integrate with other apps in this fashion. If that changes, we will certainly look into it.
For the time being what you can do is tap and hold on the password field to bring up the Copy menu, and then you can paste it into the app. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
That is what I do, JFR. Depending on the app, I will either save it within the app (like Facebook) or copy and paste it every time I use the app (like my bank's app). Of course, be sure you have a device passcode set if you are saving any passwords in the apps themselves. 1Password can only protect the passwords it stores. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />Flag 0

You will need to change the password in the specific manner required for the app, but you can use a generated one from 1Password. It varies from app to app. I generate the password in 1Password, then copy it to the clipboard. Then go to the password change section for the app and paste in the generated password as my new password. Then you can create a Login or Account item in 1Password to store the credentials, so you don't lose that generated password. You certainly won't be able to remember ueRvmxF9zbkM3FLBWu>R3jPB2vcRGtR)KPzki^doK^m7L7RTYR but that is what you have 1Password for. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
That's the change process which you only need to do once.
Now the app in which you just changed your password is expecting that long, random password in order to authenticate you. To log in to the app, simply copy and paste that strong password from 1Password.Flag 0 -
Many thanks Khad, buying 1password Pro now due to your posting on this forum
