Dropbox sync for 1Password data
I am not sure I completely understand the Safari integration. An Apple iStore employee recommended 1Password Pro to me for helping me remember all my passwords. Ideally, I am going to store all the information on my iPad and sync it with my iPhone as well (or vice versa). The way he explained it to me was that the passwords were also available to me via a website and I assumed (I know I shouldn't assume), it was part of the application service. Maybe he was referring to the Safari integration but I still don't understand how that works. Are the passwords stored on the web for me to access via Safari? Or is the application only something that works on the iPad/iPhone?

Hey there, ajstein! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I am sorry for the confusion. 1Password Pro is iOS only (iPad and iPhone support are both built in to the app). If you like, however, you can sync your 1Password data with Dropbox. While this must be set up initially using the desktop version of 1Password, you can do so using the free trial, and it will continue to work even if you choose not to keep using 1Password for Mac or Windows.
The main reason I bring this up is that this will also give you access to 1PasswordAnywhere, which is a web version of 1Password that is built in to your 1Password database. Sync'ing this with Dropbox will allow you to access it from the Dropbox website in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome from any computer -- you simply need to log in to the Dropbox website to access it.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

Please see my post above for more information on Dropbox sync'ing. In your case, this will allow your 1Password data to stay in sync between both devices once it is set up.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing back from you! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Absolutely not! You are welcome to set up Dropbox sync using the free trial, although I certainly wouldn't want to discourage you from purchasing 1Password Mac as well. Just check it out and see if it fits your needs, and be sure to let us know if you have any questions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

I downloaded the trial version for Mac and then paid for the full version on my iPhone.
Do I have to buy the full version on Mac to have them sync?
if so, how do they recognize eachother?
ThanksFlag 0 -

Hey there, usagishouse (うちのうさぎ?)! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
We recommend Dropbox sync, since it works automatically in the background. You absolutely don't have to purchase 1Password Mac, but it is required for the initial Dropbox sync setup. You can use the free trial of 1Password Mac to set it up, and if you like it you can purchase it if it suits you.

Sorry if this comes off the wrong way but did you look at the directions at all? You can sync with Dropbox... sync your 1Password data with DropboxFlag 0 -

Just to clarify, how it works is you essentially create an empty data file on the desktop version, install and configure it to be stored in Dropbox, and then the data is sync'd from your iPad to the Dropbox severs, where it can then be sync'd to as many other supported computers or mobile devices as you wish! I don't know about you, but I definitely don't want to have to reenter all my data by hand. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0 -
The main difference is that Windows doesn't include the services we use for Wi-Fi sync, therefore Dropbox is the only option for sync'ing 1Password on the PC currently.
If you are already using Dropbox on these computers, setting up your 1Password data to sync there as well is a piece of cake. All you need to do is go to Preferences > General > Move to Dropbox on your system with the current data, and then on the other open the 1Password.agilekeychain in your Dropbox folder in 1Password after it is finished sync'ing. Finally, follow these instructions to set up Dropbox sync on your iPhone and you're all set!
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
I have done all that in the past. I am currently using Dropbox and 1Password to sync between my iMac, iPhone and a PC. The only thing that I do differently than what you stated above, is I have WiFi checked for syncing instead of Dropbox syncing in the settings screen of 1Password on my iPhone (it seems to work with Dropbox just fine). I want to know what the difference is...as a Mac user...since I do not have 1Password on my PC. Is Dropbox syncing done on 3G and or WiFi? Automatically maybe?Flag 0

Syncing on the iPhone is either Dropbox or Wi-Fi, you can't have both enabled at the same time. So, on your iPhone you need to go to More > Settings > Sync > Dropbox within 1Password and enable this.
Wi-Fi syncing only works when you're on the same network and both 1Password on the iPhone and 1Password for Mac are open and unlocked. Dropbox syncing works with any internet connection, and doesn't require either app to be open or unlocked, when you next open 1Password on the iPhone any changes will be synced.Flag 0 -
There shouldn't be, as long as you have your 1Password data already in Dropbox on the Mac you're all set, you just need to follow our step-by-step guide to configure this on the iPhone.Flag 0
