Decrypting files

I am trying to import my old .mbox files into the my new mail client. None of them seem to be able to suck in my .mbox files. (They were encrypted using knox.) I was hoping to just convert them back into cleartext, then import. But just copying them out of the volume doesn't seem to do it.

Is there a way to convert files back into cleartext? (Ideally a bunch at a time.) is there a way to convert an entire knox volume back to cleartext? Then I can always 're-knoxify' them as needed.

Thanks.

Once, the vault is opened, you should be able to access the data in its unencrypted form. Simply copying the files out of the vault will store them unencrypted on the disk where you copy them.

It sounds like you tried that, but could you give a bit more details about what point in the process you had trouble? Was there an error message? From Knox, Mail, or Finder?
  • Hi. Yes, I did try that. After spinning for a while I get a message from Mac 'Mail' that says: "Error: No valid mbox files were found." It is possible that this is because I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion -- not sure.

It is possible that the mbox files are corrupt or otherwise unusable unrelated to encryption or Knox. It sounds like it might be a Mail issue. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

Do you have any other files in the vault for which you can verify the integrity?
