I realize that 1Password 4 may not be close but your decision to go MAS only is going to result in many more sales
based on one simple reason. Credibility.
Geeks don't rule the world with regard to sales it's the rank and file consumer and the one problem I've personally
encountered with suggesting 1Password is credibility. Many people have never heard of you and thus may be
skeptical about entrusting their passwords to an unfamiliar company.
Being one the Mac App Store pretty much means your product has been vetted by Apple and Apple can vouch
for the worthiness of your app.
I suspect that for every detractor you find because of the MAS policy you will gain two new users.
