Changing where my data is stored in 3.9

So I just downloaded 3.9 from the App store and appears you can no longer customize where your keychain is stored? This is a HUGE issue for me as I store my keychain on a thumb drive so that I can easily access my passwords from any computer. Is there any chance this can be added back in?

You also don't seem to be able to set up automated back ups anymore?

thanks!!

The Mac App Store version is sandboxed and can only access files in its own container (~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper). We requested an exception to also access the Dropbox folder and it was granted.

The automated backups are still there. They are stored in the container.
  • So simply put this is an Apple imposed security restriction that cannot be helped?

Yes, it is a sandbox restriction. It has its pros and cons.
  • I sync with Dropbox and use my iOS app to get passwords when I'm on a "foreign" computer. Couple extra steps, but I've gotten used to it.
  • Alright, thanks, I think i have a work around. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Created a new repository on my subversion server then checked it out into that library folder where the data is stored. This way I can commit my agilekeychain anytime a change is made. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I then will have another checked out copy of the repository on my thumb drive which all i have to do is run an svn update on to get my latest password date <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I am going to miss the old way though, it was so much easier

That's a pretty cool workaround. Definitely geek points. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> I think you might find Dropbox, as bepeacock suggested, much easier though:

hahaha, ya I have been avoiding dropBox as much possible. I like to avoid too many apps on my machine that require set up like dropBox does. (plus I already am paying for all my server space, so might as well use it <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> )
